Re: Inzam appreciation society...

Inzy is an understated leader almost like a pater familias - there are no flamboyant histrionics, no petulant tantrums and no extreme displays of emotion, the man almost seems hooked to Prozac, yet with his unhurried, calm demeanor he extolls good performances from his team - his batting is like the gentle swishing of a brook, quiet, almost serene in its flow yet you look up and he's gotten to 30 or 40 in seemingly no time at all. He seems to have oodles of time to play his shots and summons the extra power when needed - magnificent timer of the ball.

He is obviously religious and I think this adds another dimension to his leadership because it helps him stay focused and grounded, spiritually and mentally - despite his size he can motor when needed and his only real Achilles heel is the running between the wickets and resulting tendency to run himself or his partners out - yet more often than not, he does not need the stolen single because he can rotate the strike very adeptly.

All in all, a class batsman (one of the top 10 in the last 30 years) and an underrated captain.

This must be Inzamam himself (and/or his bhoot).

Re: Inzam appreciation society...

I am one the biggest Inzi fans but this 'appreciation society' looks more like a navie society. Inzi is an average captain, at best. Leadership for him is to score big, he does have the persona to inspire people but to mold'em into better players is impossible for him to achieve. Just look at Salman Butt, Inzi could assit him on how to play certain deleveries but I guess we have add one more to our 'list of coaches' to address this need.

Its been over 3 years since his captaincy and urgency is not seen in his captaincy. His field placements are awful, also we rarely see something 'creative' by him on the field. I remember 2nd ODI against England when they were visiting Pakistan. England were 8-130 and went 9-230, you have got to be kidding me. If he pulls one of these amazing captiancy skills during WC'07, we could be in big trouble.
