invitation wording!

ok ladies, i have my wedding invite wording down, but i need help with the mehendi invite wording!
gah!

this is option a:
With joyful hearts,

SGC’s family and friends

request the pleasure of your company

at her Mehendi celebration

on Friday, the third of August

two thousand and seven

at seven o’clock in the evening

and this is option b:
With joyful hearts,

SGC’s family and friends

request the pleasure of your company

at the Mehendi celebration
for SGC and András

on Friday, the third of August

two thousand and seven

at seven o’clock in the evening

issue with option a: its too inclusive of me. andrew’s gonna be there too with his groomsmen and his fam… BUT its a strictly pakistani affair that is traditionally for the girl, so should he be on the invite?

issue with option b: i’m using my name twice. does that sound weird??

Re: invitation wording!

:hmmm:hmmm. both good…but i would go with the second because the first one only has your name..people won’t know that it’s a mixed mehndi…i’ve known hijaabi kurian that read the invitation and thought “oh it’s the girl’s mehndhi” and turn up looking all dolled up, and then find out it’s mixed…might not be a problem for you but i prefer the second cos it states both names!!
and btw CONGRATS!!!

Re: invitation wording!

I agree with mandrake.

Re: invitation wording!

i agree the second one is the best... but somehow i think u should mention ur parents name too... like :
With joyful hearts,

Mr. and Mrs. parents name and friends

Re: invitation wording!

another option is that u mention the name of ur close friends on the mehndi card and ur parents name in the shaadi card...

Re: invitation wording!

Go with the second one. Intead of saying "SGC's family and friends" either name your parents or sibs or whoever are the hosts, OR just say "we."

Re: invitation wording!

the thing is, if i name my bridesmaids, then family will get upset cos they're paying for the mehendi, and if i name one cousin, then i have to name all 20 or someone will get pissy. its so complicated! i don't want to put my parents names on there cos its really an informal sort of event and their names are already on the wedding invite.

what if i said something like,

Together with our families and friends
we request the pleasure of your company
at our Mehendi celebration
on blah blah blah

or third person,

Together with their families
SGC and Andrew
request the pleasure of your company
at their Mehendi celebration
etc.

or even

Together with their families
SGC and Andrew
invite you to join their Mehendi celebration
on Friday, the third of August
etc.

Re: invitation wording!

Why does anyone even have to be inviting?

you are cordially invited
to share in the joy of
SGC and Andrew's Mehndi Ceremony
on blah blah blah

Re: invitation wording!

I like that...

Re: invitation wording!

mehndi card usually has names of bride's or groom's sisters and female cousins on it who invite others

Re: invitation wording!

On ur 1st post i like the 2nd one.
Yeh theres always some1 who ends up getting offended for not being mentioned on the card! Reading all this stuff abt mehndi invitations makes me wanna go to ur mehndi as well even tho i live in London!:phati:
