I have some savings, which i would invest in-line with islamic rules. I usually put the money in the savings account and give off the interest.
I thought of keeping it at home, but then…:hinna: I hope somebody understands.
buying gold can be an option, but then taking the zakat will probably decrease in the savings amount.
What means and where are the places I can invest?
keeping in mind, that i live in ind.

Re: Investment Option
I think you will have to give zakat anyway.....don't be scared of it....the more you give the more Allah will bless you ...because zakat purifies your assets.
Gold is the best option .....other than that you can invest in mutual funds , stocks , TFCs or Bonds......depends upon the economic situation of your country.
You can invest is some property also like book an apartment and use your money for down payment and then pay the instalments. I myself have never opted for this option as it can take years and if in the middle I die I don't want my family to pay off my liabilities and unpossesed properties are not very safe in Pakistan. May be in India it's different. You need consider your situation right now if you have dependants or not ...how much money can you commit and invest in long term and can forget about it ? or you want assets that can be quickly converted into cash .....it completely depends upon your priorities.
Re: Investment Option
I know, but while I am working zakat is not a problem Alhamdulillaha. I am thinking of when I quit or move into a lesser paying job. Then, to take out zakat for the gold will probably drain out the other cash.
About the savings bonds..I do have these savings which invested give about 6.5%/pa and they are locked-in for 6 years. Or the Fixed deposit - 5yrs lock-in with 7%/pa interest.
Ex: 25/05/2010 - Rs10,000 invested.
25/05/2016 - Rs.16,100
So, that 6000 rupees are riba right?
I dont know about mutual funds, How can I guarantee that the investments done by the mutual fund guy is according to shariah? Unless I myself invest in those shares. Alas
I dont have that kind of knowledge.
Any other options please?
Re: Investment Option
Yup you can not be sure that the investments made my mutual funds manager is halal or not.
Then I believe options left for you are property or gold. Don't worry about Zakat ......Allah will pave path for it. Just keep your intentions clean.
