intuition and understanding of QuranSharif

intuition is the ability to think quickly and gain an insight into things.
Quran sharif has so much to offer in letting the reader know that they are encouraged to use their mental faculty of intelligent and gainful knowledge, through becoming wiser by reading Quran in its true interpretation.
Quran says, identifying the qualities of those who have intuition that they are the ones who ponder, who reflect, who seek, who are cognizant.
how does this God given power sheds some light on our ability to have a bearing on simply making sense between the right and the wrong that we see all around us, every living moment of our lives.
if intuition is our quality, we must then, well, reflect ever so more, for ‘baseeret’, as much as we can hold within the limits of our wisdom. How can we knowledgably make use of our ability to contain and sustain rational thinking, for it si already bestowed on us, that we do possess it.
Is thinking over and again, going to count as using intuition to connect all dots for a better understanding of the Quran? If so, then, translation is necessary to fully understand the meaning, if Arabic is not one’s spoken language. Any particular ayet that attracts for the emphasis it places on the power of intuition. Please share.
any thoughts?

Re: intuition and understanding of QuranSharif

intuition is often subconscious thinking in a mind that has lots of experience and learning in that domain. basically the more you consciously learn and think about something the more educated your guesses

Re: intuition and understanding of QuranSharif

Going over your thoughts and rationalising them cant be recognized as an intuition in my opinion. Intuition is usually prescribed to instinctive knowledge, in colloquial terms a hunch for which the reasons may be present in your subconscious yet you cannot rationalise them with facts and tangible reasoning.
I have to say, your thoughts appears jumbled and i am not clear as to what you are inquiring about.

Re: intuition and understanding of QuranSharif

i see where you are coming from. but intuitive knowledge is with in, that is why is is evoked by calling to think. no?

for instance the following ayaat.

Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made? And at the Sky, how it is raised high? And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm? And at the Earth, how it is spread out? (88:17-20)

Travel through the earth and see what was the end of those before (you): Most of them worshipped others besides God. (30:42)

Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? But the home of the hereafter is best, for those who do right. Will ye not then understand? (12:109)

these ayaat and many others ask of the readers to reason.
intuitive is also alert. so in that respect, it is not unconcious mix of ideas or thoughts, instead, it is something to reckon with, something that is quite proactive in the mind of a thinking and feeling human being, who in the context of faith, has a due rationalization of that what is beng told to her/him or read by her/him.
why i mentioned arabic and its translation to be important is because, many people think that they can read Quran in arabic, alone and they know it's meaning. of course, they dont, if they do not know what the arabic words mean.
i know it is a couple of different concepts, i am using here in discussing this topic.
the simpler view is intuition --> ability to decipher what is being read --> language understanding --> meaningful insight --> application of the learnt and observed knowledge to rules or systems of living based on the teachings of the book.
makes sense?

Re: intuition and understanding of QuranSharif

ravage,

it is true that we cannot guess about the readings from Quran for it is meant to be understood as is.
yes, i agree, conscious learning and thinking will lead to more educated understanding.

Re: intuition and understanding of QuranSharif

Very nice thread.....

One thing i want to share...Quran interpretation of ayats best be understood by pondering over to Siaq-o-Sbaq...maens the in context with incidents...plus...in the light of shaheeh ahadees...as depicted in 6 books or other ahadees....

More over...the greatest scholars of quran ...like Ali...Umar....Ibne Masood...Ubai bi Kaab...and Ibne Abbas....Aisha etc etc...what they say about the particular ayat...when it was revealed.....in Makkah or Madina..what the real incident which this ayat talks about and what the real reason of revealing this ayat.....

This is because...without shaeeh ahadees...one can go astray..about a particular ayat of quran ...and cannot know...what the real incident this is talking about.....

Plus...the good and excellent Tafseer of Quran...Like the one of the best is Tafheem-ulQuran by Maulana Abul Al'a Maudoodi....or any othet like MMufti Shafee...or Peer Karam Shah Al-Azhari etc etc.....

But plz...i request you....not take the interpretation of Quran from Tafsser Qummi or any other like that....They will twist the meaning of ayats and will paste the many ayats upon beloved companions of prophet(pbuh)...but actually they are talking about the kuffars of makkah as mostly quran talks about.....

The best scientific and modern is Tafheem ul Quran or any other which you like....As Shahabs directly learnt every ayat from Prophet(pbuh) so they directly used to ask about every ayat ...that whats the real reason behind its revelation.....

Re: intuition and understanding of QuranSharif

And dont involve in Philosophical and logical...debates and meanings of quran...as once done by the sufia and scholars of Iran and Iraq...and the result is in front of us.....!!!!!

Quran is simple...and speaks simple...made easier for Muttaqeen....its beautiful way of repetation of certain incidents but with different style every time shows that our Lord knows that repeating the thing again and again will penetrate it into our mind deep as we see in our academics...

PLz.Dont indulge into "Mantaqi Mooshagafia" type things.....read it into simple way....in the light of ahadees ...if you want to know ...what the reason of this ayat or this paragraph to be revealed....Because this is really interseting when you know what particular ayat speaks about particular incident.....

I give you one example...Umar used to call Ibne Abbas...in his every meeting...although he was a boy of 12 or 13 years old...Abdur Rahman bin Auf...a very great sahabi and other sahabs complained that why you bring this small child in the meetings of old and Badri sahabas....Umar smiled and sdaid for one reason...let me tell you...You all people know what the actually message of revelation of Sura Nasr which is Jab allah ki madad a gai to tum dekho gai kai log jok dar jok allah kai deen mai dakhil ho rahai hai ......

Umar asked all the great sahabas what the actual message behind this Sura...all great sahabs said that it shows the conquest of Makkah and people of all tribes entering into islam into large no.....

Umar turned towarsd Ibne Abss and said that tell me what the real reason behind this.......Ibne Abbas said that...this sura talks about the Death of Prophet(pbuh).....and Umar said...exactly...I also say that.....

Then umar said that...now you all people know why i call Ibne Abbas to every meeting...Point is Ibne Abbas was the child to whom Prophet(pbuh) specially prayed for the Interpretation of Quran.....so what he tells about any ayat ...and its purpose of revelation...if not 100% true...but 98 % as you can say or ebven more....as Ibne Abbas is also human ...not Masoom...so there may be chances of wrong angle looking at a particular ayat...but this is Ilmi Difference...which is totally acceptable and respected....

Similarly the interpretation of Abdullah Ibne Masood and Ubai bin Kaab ...also hold unique importance as prophet(pbuh) said that ..after me...learn Quran from them.....

And you will find all these great sahabas views about almost all quran in 6 ahadess and other books...and all these things are quoted by Tafheem ul Quran by Maudoodi that what Ibne Abbas and Ibne Masood says about particular Aayats of a quran....everything is written....I thanked to Allah that ...he gave me chance to read this Tafseer and make many things crystal clear which seems to be very difficult before...All praise are for Allah Almighty....

I am not saying that other are low...there are definitely very beautiful and very informative tafaseer of quran....like Maaruf ul Quran by Mufti Shafee...Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi etc etc....

They all talk about the background of any ayat..etc....
