I have never worked with any organization my entire life, no experience, no nothing.
Wow, such well-accomplished people! MashAllah!
This is a really cool thread Mr. Frauds!
As for me, I have yet to achieve my goals!
I’m in 2nd year university, majoring in International Relations and Economics at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. IR is my passion and I’m hoping to go into foreign affairs, diplomacy or work for organisations such as the UN, WB or IMF.
Mr. Frauds, iether you or your father has had experience in this field? How do I make the necessary connections and what post grad majors would you recommend?
cat woman, I have worked with world bank not for world bank during my days at the world trade center. My dad has served in advisory roles for world bank.
There was a thread some time back with someone looking to get into world bank or UN related organisations. let me see if I can find it since it had tons of useful contribution from various members.
If you go on the website for UN and worldbank, in their career section they have the type of openings and how to apply etc there depending on what angle you are applying with.
The selection starts fairly early, one of the mba students with me applied about a year before graduation and went thru a number of steps.
Two of my pals used to work closely with the institute. Kevin Losking and Rafiq Bagus, both are professors at univ of west capetown and helped draft the economic package for the ANC. if you run into them tell em Kami said hello.
Oh wow, that's great to hear. I don't know iether of them, but I will try to find out.
Uni of Western Cape did you say? or did you mean Uni of Cape Town (UCT)?
Were you ever in these parts that you know these people?
