My little one is now 6 months MaShaAllah, she is managing 2 meals a day and is BF. I am planning to return to work in the near future, and would like to swap her to Formula feed. Unfortunately she refuses to take her bottle. She will complain and fight until I BF her.
Any advice from those that have managed to change fron BF to formula after 6 months?
No tips from me as I have failed with this. I have heard some kids accept bottles better when mum is not in sight. Can the dad help? Mine can't figure out the bottle and dsnt like it. I am now trying with a beaker but she is 10 months.
With my daughter, she was bf too and she refused formula.
I tried different bottles (she was still taking pumped bm with the bottle) and finally she settled on Dr browns bottle.
I started working and was pumping but eventually my supply became low and I had to start formula. She would not drink formula at all. We knew it was not the bottle but the different taste of formula.
What I did was started mixing bm with a little bit of formula, and eventually increased the formula in the mix.
She never really liked it but at least she would take the mixed bottle when before she would simply refuse.
I switched to whole milk as soon as I could. That transition was much better.
Thank you for the replies. Hubby has tried a few times with little luck.
problem is the bottle i think, as she wont take it even with BM.
It is extremely frustrating as she will have milk in her mouth but not swallow it if it has come from the bottle!
