Interviews

Hi everybody,

I was thinking can we please have thread on tips for interviews. I have one tomorrow and I’m feeling a bit shakey about what your suppose to say and what not to say for weakness and strength.

Heeeelp

belle i had this saved from a GS post long back. Weaknesses are much more difficult to describe then strength. Hope this helps :) and good luck.

  1. "I would have to say that my biggest weakness is that I haven't
learned how to say no. I enjoy challenges and have difficulty in limiting how many I take on. I often find myself eating up my leisure time with
    work-related acitivities."

  2. "I sometimes feel the need to know the big picture instead of just
working on the piece that is assigned to me. I think being aware gives
me a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction because I feel that I am
contributing directly to a much larger project."

  3. "I love (movies, playing squash, lobster dinners - insert your own)
and find it difficult to pass up an opportunity to enjoy it/them. I'm going
to have to curb these desires before they become addictions."

  4. "Sometimes I think I am too generous with assistance. I can't stand
to watch someone struggle through something. I'm always the first one to jump in and want to help out. I consider this a weakness because often my generosity cuts into time that I need to devote to my own agenda."

  5. "I have difficulty letting go of a problem once I've identified it.
I've got a curious mind and until I have resolved the mystery I can't put it away. Many a sleepless nights have been spent investigating and
    unravelling."

That should hold you for a couple of interviews......do remember one
important thing. At the end of mentioning your weakness be sure to say
that it is something you are actively working on to improve.

Aww thank you so much. :flower1:

^ I like this one!

I recently had two interviews and these are the only professional/proper interviews that I've had so far.

Both were for on-campus jobs. The first one was alright, but wasn't impressive.

The 2nd one was just horrible! I got there just on time (instead of 10 mins early). That got me so nervous that my throat dried up, I could barely speak. Plus, I couldn't get enough sleep and no breakfast (b/c I was getting late).

I guess all these factors combined got me so nervous during the interview that I paused for a few moments while answering a question.

Overall, it was horrible. :(

Any tips to keep myself composed?

Also, how the heck do you answer questions like 'what skills you have got to offer?' when you're asked the same question 10 times, but in different words.

If it's of any use, I'm a Business Admin student.

Oh and on both ocassions I was told my resume is very good. I need to somehow develop better communicational skills when it comes to interviews.

I'm fine when doing presentations. I don't know why I get so nervous during interviews.

I have 2 interviews tom and this help a lot

Thank you Jal Pari.. you rock :flower1:
