Re: Interview .......

Re: Interview .......

Most likely the interviewer will not even offer their hand.

No I don't think that will be the case! It's standard protocol to shake hands...at least in the west! I would just shake the hand...and not worry about this issue that much...like someone mentioned above Allah (swt) knows your real intension...and living in this world in this day and age there really imo isn't anything wrong with shaking a guys hands...in a business enviroment...now stop worrying about this handshake issue and focus on the actual interview yaar!! :)

You misunderstand. The reason for the thread is that brother is amoungst us.

:flower1:

who’s brother?

Re: Interview .......

Re: Interview .......

i thought u meant big brother..

Re: Interview .......

Look, I have been in 2 situations where I have offered my hand for a handshake and the lady has looked at it and not offered her hand, its a momentary awkwardness for me, and I just move on, last time it happened it was a white midwesterner VP lady at a company townhall meeting. I did not take it personally and niether did she. In another case it was a Pakistani girl during college days, who said sorry I dont shake hands, andI was like oh I am sorry and we moved on. no biggie.

I broke protocol in that case, the general protocol is that a guy does not offer his hand for handshake, and only shakes hand if the lady offers it.

Aside from that, people are used to cultural stuff, often meeting with people from other cultures, Japanese for example who are not big on hand shaking.

Even i can provide links to so many sites which say against it…Is It Permissible to Shake Hands with Opposite Gender? - Islam Question & Answer

At least in Muslim community around us, no one feels problem in not shaking hands even at high official levels…it depends how strong you are in your choice of shaking or not.

Re: Interview .......

Walaykumsalam baji!!

tum achi kari ho! baji!!

I usually explain to them the reason I don't shake their hands. I tell them that its because doing so would be sinful and Islam forbids an ajnabee women and ajnabee men to shake hands.

And to all you other bajis that say "what's the harm??" welllllllll shame on you! astarfirullah! Giving bad advise to her!! Show her the right way to do thing, not the wrong path

Re: Interview .......

Ummm I have a friend who has OCD so won't shake hands with anyone, just say you have OCD.

Re: Interview .......

Ive been there too. Dont fret, be polite, and tell him something like im sorry, we dont shake hands with the opposite sex from where i come from, but its such a pleasure to meet you! your body language is important, once he realizes ur being respectful and polite, he will appreciate that you stand up for urself regardless of the odds =)

Re: Interview .......
