Musharraf’s brother Dr Naveed is an Illinois based anaestheologist
though we in Pakistan never have heard of him too much
but this interview shocked me
do we really have to separate religion and state ?
Iqbal said
" *juda ho deen siasat se to reh jaati hay changeezi" * was he a fool ?
“We are nominal Muslims, in that we don’t go to the mosque very often and neither do we pray five times a day. I don’t know how to read the Quran and neither do my brothers,” said Dr Musharraf. “My father is not a religious person too. We are all very secular. My brother believes that religion and state should be separate and that there is room for all religions.”
Good for you Fraudia. A person who would pray tahhajud would have show by his actions what is important for him, and in position of leadership what you do and say is very important and it counts.
A person who would say that he doesn’t even know how to read Quran and would not pray five times, would show his character as well. This pseudo secularist idea that religion is your personal mater has no value in Islam. Its the duty to Allah which counts in Islam, every thing else is secondary.
And it really amazes me when you refer to Zia as a religious person and then you mix him up with Khomaini.
the point is that there are many people who claim to be religious, Zia being one of them, the entire herd of MMA being another, but does it mean that they infact are religious? and that they infact are good leaders.
as far as Zia or Khomeini go, I dont know who was a bigger pain the rear, they both did their countries in.
claiming to be religious, or being religious does not make a person a good leader. It may or may not help, but it is not the deciding factor.
In the case of Pakistan, the less religious the better. Look at Jinnah, do you think that any Mullah would have gotten us independence from the British? Religious is a personal matter and it should be kept like that. As a Pakistani, I don’t want any religious rule shoved up my nose. I have enough religious rules to follow as it is. You wana pray 15 times a day, do it on your own time, I expect my leaders to work for me and not for their Allah.

if musharraf knows how to read urdu then he prolly knows how to read Quran
and in the army they have regular dars and islamic programs and some sort of islamic knowledge is part of the required curriculum so obviously mush has gone thru that as well
this is khamakha ka propaganda that indians r trying to stir :halo:
Talwar puttar…dont go out and believe everything u read and see. Like Irem said…him not being able to read Quran, would mean he dont know how to read Urdu either…and that is a bit hard to comprehend.
I know Naveed Musharraf and know for a fact that he knows how to read urdu, so most likely his brother does too as they grew up in the same household.
