looks like you have the i upside down :D

The only way people will really get effective political clout in the country is by understanding its power structures, how they work and how they can be used. I fail to see why this opportunity for someone to fill would be considered haraam?

non-paid :/ would have given it a second thought if it would have been IBM or... :~)

I have seriously considered applying in the past, but never went ahead with it, but I think such a position would be great experience, and a real eye opener in terms of how the government does its business/runs.

it is unpaid but i am certain it provides great experience. I had a brief stint supporting my prof who was working on the state governers task force for international business. The exposure, contacts and first hand expereince of how a state goes about attracting international companies as well as selling its products internationally was an interesting and beneficial experience. That was unpaid too, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This on the othe rhand is direct involvement at a federal level..Had i been in college looking for internships, i would have jumped at the opportunity. Anyone can get an internship somewhere. this type of expereince will be invaluable.

^you are right. its just that the thought of working for the u.s government for FREE sounds kinda ......!! i mean its not some kind of social work or anything.

do u have to be a u.s citizen to apply?

they don't really mention any criteria...i don't know if they actually are looking for college students and then for only specific majors.

though it sounds more like a position for business major

i am not sure if u have to be a citizen, as far as majors go, usually its open, but for ppl who have an interest and some background in the area. either govt, or public admin or business, but its not a requirement.

it looks like the job for students pursuing education in law.

Thanks Fraudia uncle...

I would also appreciate it if you and other respectable members of gupshup post any internship openings near the chicago area, relating to computer engineering/computer science/IT...

What area in IT
and Do you need them to be paid.

If nothing else there are always tonnes of openings on campus for positions for anything from Network admins and web site developers all the way to systems management and programming and so on.
