Internship @ Microsoft - help

salamz everyone..

I want an internship at Microsoft anyone here with the knowledge on how to get it ??? what skills ??? and other stuff?

any help would be appriciated

Why do you want an internship at MS?
what will it do for you that you want in your career? money?
Why do you want it now?
And what do you have to offer them that no one else can bring to the table.

if you are just looking for it as a way to build up your experience I would suggest other places preferably smaller firms in an tech area that you are interested in. Even a start up where you spend the summer for free. the important part is getting into the work ethic and developing skills as well as building up a good network of contacts with people in your field. Yes MS has a big name to it but you can probably get a lot more experience in a smaller faster firm then you could at MS.

What will matter when you go out looking for a job will be who you know, how well you did in your last job and how the people think of you there and what you bring to the table (and most likely in that order).

the who you know without a doubt is the most important thing in the west till we get to the stage of virtual jobs.

hmcq i am not just trying to get a job at Microsoft only, i have applied to dozens of other companies.. Microsoft is just one of them..

I have experience of working with small and large software development organizations.. i want to experience what Microsoft has to offer.. i am sure its a different environment than a startup company..

the reason i want it now is that i am in 3rd year and if i get an internship at Microsoft than i might be able to secure a position at Microsoft after graduation.. after it matters whom you knw and if i do an internship at Microsoft i will get to knw ppl inside the company .. ie. Managers.. and after graduation it will be easier to get them...that's all

yeah digitalsurgeon, i am in Canada.. i have tried Borland but they don't have any Intern position in canada.. but yeah it is a sweet company to work for :)
