Internet in Pakistan?

Hi fellow gupshupies (!), Hope Ramadhan is going well for you that are fasting.

I’m off to Pakistan in 3 weeks (…and counting) and just wondered how i could get internet on my laptop over there. I live in the NWFP near Peshwar in quite a small village.

My uncle was saying something about an internet card…?

Please could anyone shed some light onto this matter.

Thanks

Re: Internet in Pakistan?

Internet Scratch cards from internet servicd providers in Pakistan are available at any grocery,stationary waghaira waghaira shops ,all you need is a computer with modem and phone line.use the username,password and dialing number on the card.

If phone line is not available then you can use GPRS
:chai:

the best on-the-go option for internet is to get a wireless connection. theres, PTCL and worldcall. Both connections are widely avaialble, and are active in most remote areas of paksitan, so a village near Peshawar should be covered as well.

The connection can be bought for around 2000 rupees, and then buy a card, load it up....Internet costs 5 rupees per hr with them. They can be used as a phone too.

Re: Internet in Pakistan?

Thanks for the replies.

Boyee forgive my ignorance but how physically do you connect the internet to your laptop in Pakistan. At home I have i wireless router that connects to the phoneline. In Pakistan we got rid of the phoneline.

Re: Internet in Pakistan?

get a High Speed GPRS/EDGE connection from Telenor or Warid. (USB with SIM)
www.telenor.com.pk
Warid :: Life Ka Network

Telenor has better coverage in NWFP but if you are traveling, you can go with either one of them. if you will be staying in the big cities, you can also get Wimax from Wateen.
Wateen Telecom :::

When you buy a wireless phone, you get a wireless phone set with a charger, alongwith a data cable that connects to a serial port on the wireless set. You will also get an installation CD with the phone, which you can use to install the wireless phone to your laptop.The other end of the cable is a USB jack, which is plugged into your laptop.

Once installed, youre set to go. The whole setup takes no more than 10 minutes.
