Students coming to Europe or America from Pakistan … what expectations do you have in mind before you start the journey and how do you afford your fees? how easy is it to find student jobs and what kinds of student jobs are out there?

When I came here as a student, I thought that white girls would fall for my black hair and black leather jacket. It was shocking to realize that it was not true. Good thing was that I was not the only disappointed person. 300 other black leather jacket claded pakistani male students were also equally disappointed.

I had a friend who had two jobs (in a call centre and takeaway) just to pay his tuition fees and living expenses. He struggled with his university work but luckily for him he had good friends and we helped him as much as we could. He's now an assistant director of a government organisation.
Another friend had to rely on his parents for most of the year but he has found a job working for McDonalds.

I came with the ambition to Top the course, Initially my father paid for my Bachelors and part of my Masters, later on i won the European scholarship for my Phd. For me it was very easy to find the part time jobs and i have had worked for Mcdonalds, shell, National Grid, RBS. Towards the end of my Phd i used to carry out lot of private jobs (erecting, installing, testing n commissioning of Power transformers n Switch gears etc.. ).

I completed my bachelor from pakistan and got loan from university and paid it back in three years.
currently, my company is paying for my master so i have no worry about $$$.

hahaha that jacket was supposed to be a chick magnet in everyone's opinion while they are flying over Atlantic and are just hours away from :D"land of Opportunities":D ....So Be careful about what you ask.

i had NO problems at all as i had immigrated to Canada. also, i had 100% family support. i applied for graduate studies at a university where i got scholarship which was quite handsome and enuf to live on comfortably. alHamdolillah :)
