Well, about the event: Until 3 years ago, PSA didn’t exist. One day, my friend and I were thinking and came up with the idea of forming an association of Pakistani students. So we went to the office and got it started and gave it a status of a legitimate association in the university. That way, we also came under the umbrella of something called “International Students’ Association” which has different countries’ associations under it. We started receiving their mail and found out about this International night. That was the first time in the history of our university where a Pakistani students association was formed and participated in different events. We had someone else as the president for the first year, but for the past 2 years, I’ve been the president and I will inshallah be graduating this year.

It’s a start. We can do a lot better and could’ve done a lot better ONLY IF members showed up on time. This month, there was not a single rehearsal when everyone showed up on time and I wasn’t sitting by myself for 2 hours. I guess that’s a fashion thing among pakistanis to show up late no matter how important it is. But anyway, hopefully it’ll do better and better but it seems very hard to me as not many pakistanis are interested and very few of them care and all those who care are leaving this year. So.

We used to have an association called PSN, “Pakistani Students Network” over here some years ago. Don’t know what happened to it, never heard something about it since the past two years.. I guess it doesn’t exists anymore. Further I know this other desi assocation, but that’s too far from the place where I live and also from the place where I study, so impossible to join. I know we have several international associations at our university, so I guess I’ll discuss the idea with other pakistani students. But it could be succesfull only if others are willing to co-operate.. Without the co-operation it wouldn’t work out.

According to pakistani people never showing up at time, well.. what can I say about that. I guess people made a habit of being late. I can’t stand it either, especially when they’ve lame excuses afterwards. I see it as everyone having his own style…

What concerns your association, aren’t your brothers interested to carry on with it? I know it’s hard to organise such things when nobody else’s interested.. but as you’ll be graduating this year inshAllah, there should be a way to carry on with it. It would be a pity if your hard work would fall into oblivion.

Well. The girl who is vice president is also transferring somewhere else and I was hoping she would take charge but I guess not. As far as my brothers, the middle one is in Electrical Engineering and has no time for social activities. The youngest one, he may be able to lead it but he is not responsible enough to take it seriously. So I don't know.
