Re: International image of Musharraf's Pakistan
The main reason for Pakistan's economic improvement since Musharraf came to power is $10 billion in aid United Staes has given and facilitated in $38 billion outstanding loan freezing, not any policies of Musharaf and his technocrat Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
The aid the US has given, and the loan freezes, would not impact the the government private sector that accounts for our exports. And yet Pakistan's exports have doubled under Musharraf and Aziz's rule.
Even the aid and loan freezes themselves have come as a result of Musharaf and Aziz's policies - their diplomatic policies.
Similarly, their economic policies have encouraged credit rating agencies to up-rate Pakistan, drawing in foreign private sector investment into Pakistan.
