International Attention Spillover

With international eyes now on India’s entertainment industry, do you think that Pakistanis are and will be taking advantage of this attention to boost their own industry?

Afterall, Spiderman’s team picked up Strings for a song. With Pakistanis going over and doing work in cinema in India, maybe some attention will come to the Pakistani entertainment industries?

Re: International Attention Spillover

^ PCG, Pakistan has already been making its mark in promoting the traditional music to west. NFAK (the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan) introduced the world to Pakistani brand of sufi music. Junoon contributed constructively too. Similarly, The mushroom growth of new bands in Pakistan is a good thing and will go a long way in promoting the music.

I sense that we (Pakistanis) have a unique sense of music. Our literary heritage and our background in urdu poetry puts us in at a different level than India. Yes, i said it. We have a DIFFERENT outlook on music (not better, just different) that comes from having a better understanding if intricacies of the Great urdu langauge. God Bless.

That we do. But music promotion is a totally different business from music-making. We have the talent. We dont have the right people to promote though.

Indians do. And the limelight is on them right now.
