International airport opens in India Kashmir for International Traffic

Kashmir opens international airport

India opened the airport in troubled Kashmir for international traffic for the first time on Saturday, as part of an effort to boost the Himalayan region’s ailing tourism industry.

Sonia Gandhi, head of the ruling Congress party, inaugurated the new airport, as well as state carrier Air India’s first flight to Dubai from the Srinagar International Airport.

“The start of Dubai-Srinagar international flight will help people (of Kashmir), businessmen and promote tourism,” Gandhi said in her speech.
Security was tight in the new airport, which has opened just a little over a month after a new chief minister took office, promising to help heal a region hit by two decades of separatist rebellion against Indian rule that has killed thousands.

Air India Express, a discount subsidiary of the state carrier, will operate a weekly flight to Dubai initially, with more flights and other airlines added at a later date, said Aviation Minister Praful Patel.
Kashmir was once a top Asian tourism destination, popular among honeymooners, skiers, trekkers and anglers, and attracting about a million tourists a year until 1989, when simmering anger against New Delhi’s rule burst into a violent rebellion.

Recently, visitors have started returning to the scenic Valley as violence declined significantly after India and Pakistan, who claim the region in full but rule it in parts, started a slow-moving peace process in 2004.
Last year, nearly 500,000 visitors traveled to the Valley to see its beautiful landscapes, tourism officials say.

Re: International airport opens in India Kashmir for International Traffic

When can I take a flight to Karachi from Srinagar?

Re: International airport opens in India Kashmir for International Traffic

Very good. US Army can use this when they "resolve" the kashmir issue. :D

Re: International airport opens in India Kashmir for International Traffic

To bombard terrorist camps in POK? :p

Re: International airport opens in India Kashmir for International Traffic

^ I think traffic from Pakistan will be filtered to land in Indian Kashmir or they might be excluded from International traffic :hehe:

Re: International airport opens in India Kashmir for International Traffic

^hahahahaha

Why would they need this one when they have perfectly good ones in Pakistan ...... with "drone" facilities :D

Re: International airport opens in India Kashmir for International Traffic

So as to make it easier for Indian soldiers to fly in for their mass torture, murder and rape sessions?
Or perhaps to fly out faster to their wives, so they no longer have to rely on their inflatible dongs?:)

Indians still living in their delusional world... Didnt the thousands of Pakistani flag wavers in the streets of Srinager make it clear to you?

Re: International airport opens in India Kashmir for International Traffic

^ Why do you want to see the things from a loser's point of view all the time?

You have a peaceful ,beautiful Kashmir and Srinagar to experience yourself and welcome to Srinagar. :)

The moment we get POK and MZFBD,we will make them also a heaven. :)

The groups that were part of the "kashmiri" summer are fighiting for their survival these days ....... you have to understand Kashmiri politic's to know what is happening on ground !!!!! The same people went in drove's to take part in local elections and the situation is such ...... that Hurriyat had a grand total of 11 people in one of its protests in srinagar!!!!!! Such is the politics in Kashmir !!!!

That is why you don't see many "kashmiri's" on GS these days !!!!! They have gone in hibernation !!!!!

Re: International airport opens in India Kashmir for International Traffic

The only thing Kashmiris flock for nowadays in Kashmir,is to watch the shootings of various Bolly wood Movies.

LOL… :hehe:
I was only kidding when I said your delusional! Apparently you really are insane!

There were THOUSANDS of people out on the streets… They were average people. Average people were killed during the protests.

The same people made it abundantly clear, and they have said this before, that they do not vote to legitimize the Indian occupation, but to bring in leaders who can actually improve their lives. Voting does not validate anything.
And its laughable that you think you understand Kashmiri politics! I doubt any of you Indians truly understand the average Kashmiri. More because you refuse to acknowledge reality…
You Indians say we in PAKISTAN are dreaming, I say your not only dreaming, your in coma…

Re: International airport opens in India Kashmir for International Traffic

Build all the airports you want, but the fact of the matter is that you can control Kashmiri land and the people, but their minds and hearts are independant.
Kashmir is not, and never will be Indian, regardless of what your worthless constitution says.

You can continue this rant for next 60 years and still you won't get an "inch" of Kashmir ...... so you leave Kashmir to Indian's and concetrate on "hearts and mind" of fellow Pakistani's in Swat, FATA, NWFP, Baluchistan ...... for maybe in next 60 years while India still has Kashmir ...... Pakistan might not be so lucky with these areas !!!!!!!

We havebeen in coma' for more than sixty years and being in Coma’ we took out Bangladesh from you. :stuck_out_tongue:

But your army in SWAT,NWFP and Baloch are always active.Active in surrendering to Talibs… :stuck_out_tongue:

Your time spent under constant military dicatatorship has taken it's toll ..... By voting they have excersised their right to select the people to speak on their behalf .......

What happened in summer was a local issues was explioted by some groups like Hurriyat to further their agenda ..... people had resentment against government's action and they expressed their anger. That is why after the issue was settled ..... there were neither any protests nor did people listen to the election boycott call of Hurriryat !!!!!

lol... Yeah I know.. You people are what you are.
Rather pathetic.

Fata and Balochistan will be fine aswell.

But lets not forget that it not just us who have been saying this, its the Kashmiri people themselves.. They will never be Indian, and you can never change that...
They are and always will be Independant, regardless of what that toilet paper you call a constituiton says.

And yes, continue your occupation and your rape murder, what more can anyone expect from a morally bankrupt nation of delusional hypocrits.

And again, buld all the airports you want, but Kashmir will never be a part of India. The only Indian flag that will ever be in the hands of Kashmiri are the ones that are burnt and stomped on by Kashmiri protesters, as it deserves.

I can understand your frustration .... after the shell shock of admission of Mumbai attacks comes the news of Swat. All along stories of these being RAW proxies were being circulated in the news media. But now the truth is out.

Compare this with Kashmir ..... the elusive development eveeryone keeps talking about in troubled areas of Pakistan is actually taking place in Kashmir. So it is hard to digest that progress kashmir is making.

Your comment about the constitution being toilet paper against perhaps reflects your anger with your own government and your constitution ..... so how many times has the constitution changed in Pakistan ????

Last I heard, Kashmir was still a part of India but Swat had a parallel government running :p

What's next - FATA or Balochistan ??

Re: International airport opens in India Kashmir for International Traffic

Yawn. Indians sure do seem to enjoy grasping at straws in their desperate attempts to minimize the magnitude of pro-independence sentiment in Kashmir. A few months ago, four thousand kids show up at a Pakistani concert, and all of India is gleefully shouting from the rooftops that separatism is dead...we all know what happened just a few weeks later, when hundreds of thousands turned out to protest against Indian rule. Today the same people are shoving their heads even further into the sand...as if a weekly flight to Dubai is somehow going to magically everything.
