Six top class squads from across the globe compete over three days for the title of the best 20:20 team in the world, including every single current champion side from those countries that feature domestic 20:20 tournaments.
From England, this year’s Twenty20 Cup champions Somerset Sabres are joined by 2004 winners Leicestershire Foxes. From Pakistan come the Faisalabad Wolves, winners of the ABN AMRO Twenty-20 Cup.
Sri Lanka is represented by the reigning Twenty20 cup champions the Chilaw Marians and the current holders of South Africa’s Pro20 Series, Nashua Titans will also be challenging for the title. Balance is given to the two preliminary first round groups with the participation of a star-studded PCA Masters XI, featuring a combination of leading past and present test and one day players.
The competition will take place from 15 to 17 September 2005 at Leicester.
^ No one decided who should participate, its the winner of domestic Twenty:20 gets to participate. If Shoaib Malik had not done that drama of losing deliberately
in the domestic Twenty:20 than Sialkot may have won the domestic Twenty:20 and would have made it to this International 20:20 Club Championship
Yeah i know we can't choose but that's what i was trying to say that Faisalabad won the tournament because of that controversy (it wasn't all Sialkot's fault either). Faisalabad team was pretty good as well but Sialkot is our best 20:20 team right now.
"Faisalabad Wolves" were the most balanced team in that 20-20 tournament. Its batting was the "only one" in that tournament that chased scores successfully.
Shoaib Malik and Sialkot Stallions were "fu*ked up" by the organizers and as a result Malik went to f*ck the Lahori boys up, who were favorites to organisers and were given a chance against Stallions.
If organisers had not gone against Stallions, then it would have been a nice tournamnet, as Stallions and Wolves must have competed at some stage.
Stallions were a good team but Wolves might have thrashed them as well.
Most Limited Over Day matches (including 10, 15, 20, 25 over matches) have been played in Pakistan for decades at district levels and in institutions. That is obvious from the quality of teams that participated in ABN Amro’s tournamnet.
Weather hasnot cleared enough to get the second game underway -
14:10 GMT
An inspection will take place at 14:30 GMT
News from the first game is that they had an indoor bowl-out and
PCA XI won, taking the two points
Outside however the covers are still on with some mopping up taking
place
We might see a bowl-out for this match as well
this bowl-out thing was funny.. i can't believe players could'nt hit the stumps!!!!
