Internation Mail Packages

AOA,

I am sending a gift to Lahore Pakistan and I am wondering if on the receiving end they have to pay customs?

Its a small package doesnt weigh much but sending from the UK i was told to sign a customs label which they put on the package what does this mean?

Thanks.

Re: Internation Mail Packages

azim, firstly how are u sending it ? Through Royal Mail ? or through courier, I'd recommend Courier,

1) Its safer & u you are 95% sure that it will reach the person u are sending,

2) They will sort the customs out for you. Even though they will like to see the contents & may ask you to fill a form but thats normal procedure.

In most cases there will be no customs problem, unless u send electronics or cutomable item, but courier can advise you for that.

Re: Internation Mail Packages

There is a similar thing you have to do here in the US postal service...You have to fill out the contents, items, each item's wt., cost of each item e.t.c....That cost me around 40 or 50 bucks...The arriving time was delinquently slow granted, it did reach there...

The courier (FedEx) was charging 172 bucks...

Re: Internation Mail Packages

Is it for your Lahori Punjabi Ustaadan (Ustaadi?) Lady love?

Re: Internation Mail Packages

it was sent through Royal Mail international mail? will it be a charge then on the receiving end?

Re: Internation Mail Packages

no there wont i send stuff all the time

Re: Internation Mail Packages

if local customs think that the recipient needs to pay cuty on it then they will ask tem to pay the duties.

Re: Internation Mail Packages

but trust me they dnt main apne hubby k nephews n neice k liye gifts send karti houn via royal mail n yes u have to fill in the customs thingy but thats only so they dnt have to open ur parcel u its to declare that wat u have put in is safe theres a list of do's n dont's u can get as to wat u can n cant send
lekhin aj din thak ek bar b nhi unu ne charge kiya, yes they may charge u if U have not payed the correct postage here in the uk apart frm that i dnt see any reason as to why they should

Re: Internation Mail Packages

I hope not as it wont look nice receiving a gift and have to pay money!
