analysis of LG elections in KPK. The article says that there’s always an atmosphere of war between the new and old PTI workers. The latter refer themselves as ideological and vow to battle the new entrants who had nothing to do with PTI’s agenda of change. MPAs and MNAs who actually allotted tickets in the LG polls ignored prominent workers who won as independents. The results could have been better for PTI had it distributed the tickets on merit.
Re: Internal rift, nepotism cost PTI dearly in LG elections
Typical tabloid level unprofessional from Dawn. Cost dearly? What does that even mean.PTI is leading everywhere.
I understand English may not be their first language, but seriously enough of this cheesy misleading, hyperbolic titles from supposedly ‘quality’ publications. Don’t these articles go through editors?
I wonder why they don’t hire proper graduate writers with good degree in journalism.
Re: Internal rift, nepotism cost PTI dearly in LG elections
Good that PTI candidates lost because they were relatives. Excellent. Change has arrived! Imran’s ideology has been established.
Politicians are not prophets. It is up to the public to keep checks and balances on and punish them through their votes. Proud of people of KPK for rejecting PTI candidates. PTI must learn and really appreciate the fact they are being judged such high standards. Who would dare say anything to PMLN for awarding tickets to their families, certainly not Yawn. But with emergence of PTI, people are picking up on this issue and realisng that it’s bad. Finally!
Re: Internal rift, nepotism cost PTI dearly in LG elections
It’s the people’s power and change in their thinking that matters the most. Politicians will always be politicians. I’m not just saying this for Pakistanis - plenty of super smart and charming crooks in British politics as well. It’s the people’s vote and rule of law that always teaches them a lesson.
Re: Internal rift, nepotism cost PTI dearly in LG elections
Imran is such a bad politician, couldn’t even make sure 41,000 candidates got ticket on merit out of 100,000 + pool of candidates. He couldn’t even do reference check to ensure none of the candidates were mama, chacha, taaya cousin of existing hundreds of elected officials
Re: Internal rift, nepotism cost PTI dearly in LG elections
^ I wonder if there’s also going to be a thread highlighting how PTI had comfortably won from places where there was JUI-F, ANP, PPP, PMLN, JI alliances.
Let’s see what pseudo intellectuals make of this PTI vs all parties phenomenon, and why it instantly changes public opinion all together in one party’s favour. What’s going on?
Re: Internal rift, nepotism cost PTI dearly in LG elections
People could be rejecting a candidate based on his/her incompetence or lack of knowledge, not necessarily for him/her being a relative of another party leader.
Re: Internal rift, nepotism cost PTI dearly in LG elections
Could be. But there seems to be a particular pattern. Most relatives of PTI officials standing on party’s tickets lost, and in the same areas Independents won - who were ironically ex PTI workers in most cases. I’m really proud of this - I don’t care about whatever big or little dent it made in PTI’s overall seats.
The ultimate rejection for family politics needs to come from the people! It needs to come from the grass root level.
