Interfaith Dialogue (Religious Essentials) - Islam and Christianity

Re: Interfaith Dialogue (Religious Essentials) - Islam and Christianity

No questions unless you want clarification on something. We are just looking at the different teaching of the two religions.

ume-zafeerah, I already wrote what Christianity teach/practice.

If you want to add to what the others have already wrote on Islam’s side, you is most welcome.

Re: Interfaith Dialogue (Religious Essentials) - Islam and Christianity

Sounds like exorcism.

Oh I see. Mary is infact revered in the Quran. I believe the wife of Pharoah is also mentioned in good name. However revered does not imply given the status of a prophet.

Re: Interfaith Dialogue (Religious Essentials) - Islam and Christianity

Actually this is very true. Jinns do possess humans. I know there are no clear ahadith about Ruqyah but there are hints. And Prophet SAW has always asked for refuge from the beating of Shaytan in old age when one is most vulnerable to any kind of pain.

I know many incidents people have witnessed regardnig Jinns.

Re: Interfaith Dialogue (Religious Essentials) - Islam and Christianity

Why would Pharaoh’s wife be in good name? Because she took Moses in?

Because women can’t be prophets? What is the difference between “good name” and reverence?

Re: Interfaith Dialogue (Religious Essentials) - Islam and Christianity

Because she is narrated as a righteous person unlike Pharoah. She was one the believers.

Re: Interfaith Dialogue (Religious Essentials) - Islam and Christianity

Satan is not a “what” but a 'whom". Satan, according to Christianity AND Judaism, is a fallen angel (angel that rebelled against God) and led a host of other angels in rebellion as well.

Satan was not “made” but created.

Re: Interfaith Dialogue (Religious Essentials) - Islam and Christianity

You know I still do not understand what is the difference when you say "made" and "created" as two different things.

Re: Interfaith Dialogue (Religious Essentials) - Islam and Christianity

Hebrew use basically three words, asah, yatsar, and bara.

The first two (asah, yatsar) mean to make from some pre-existing substance. You take clay and mold an elephant. You “made” the elephant.

The third word bara means to create or make something from no pre-existing substance. The one moment there is no elephant, the next there is.

The difference between how Islam and Christianity see the formation of angels is:

Islam:- God created-made the angels from light/noor. God therefor took light and MADE/MOLDED/SHAPED the angels from it. In hebrew the word to use would be asah.

Christianity:- God created the angels. There one moment were no angels and by God’s word there were angels the next moment. Created from nothing. Not made from something. The word the Bible use is bara.

Oh I see. Good explanation.
