Interesting....

“Remember the Day (of Judgement) when we shall summon every people with their Imam”

Holy Quran 17:71

Re: Interesting....

Yeah? Every Ummah has an Imam. No Musa a.s.'s Ummah is gunna walk with Rasullallah s.a.w.

Even the Prophet's are held accountable for their followers.

Re: Interesting....

^ Their is a difference between the Prophet (pbuh) and Imams.

Re: Interesting....

imam here means book....

as verse 11:17 mentions....
and in 36:12 and 46:12....

Re: Interesting....

^ where do you get that from?

Re: Interesting....

^ from the Quran....

Re: Interesting…

I hope to be with my Imam (leader) the Holy Prophet :saw:, :insha::insha::insha:

Re: Interesting....

^ "imam" here means book (more properly the book of ur deeds)....

Re: Interesting…

Really? :konfused::rolleyes:

Re: Interesting…

Armughal bhai likely stands correct in the interpretation of the verse. I wasn’t sure and thought it’d be the prophets whom we’d be with. Therefore, I decided to look it up in Tafsir Ibn Kathir. The preferred explanation is the one that armughal bhai has shared with us.

In addition, there’s also a little more to the verse than what was posted alone. It makes more sense to post the entire verse in order to get a better understanding.

The following is the tafsir for the verse:

Everyone will be called by his Imam on the Day of Resurrection

Ref: Everyone will be called by his Imam on the Day of Resurrection

Re: Interesting....

Thank you sadia...i dunno why he left the bolded part out...

[QUOTE]
One day We shall call together all human beings with their (respective) Imams: those who are given their record in their right hand will read it (with pleasure), and they will not be dealt with unjustly in the least. [Quran 17:71]

Re: Interesting....

Shia interpretation refers to the descendents of Hazrat Ali (a.s) as the Imams.

Re: Interesting....

^ when the Quran states otherwise?

Re: Interesting....

As far as I know, literally translated, Imam means leader.

Moreover, words in the Quran can have different meanings when put in a different context.

For example, in the mosque, we call the person who leads the jamaat, the* imam, *simply to identify that he is *leading *the prayer. This is different from the 12 Shia *Imams *who we believe were chosen by Allah SWT etc etc

WaSalaam

Re: Interesting....

Imam means Leader. Bush is a Imam for his followers, we have to choose ours. Our Imam will be the person whom we follow. So simple.
