I was just browsing along some Q and A`s in this website in regards Janna when i came across this facinating question asked by this lady in regards getting in Janna wat could not be gained in this life. I thought it was an interesting Question (which would be in the mind of most of us in some ways
) and followed by a very definitive and sensible answer.
The Question:
Is it a sin to have intentions to go to heaven. the main reason is of course to escape from the tortures of hell fire …for example…i wished for something to happen in this world…but that did not happen..now i wish that it shud happen atleast in my next life…permanent life…so i want to go to heaven,..is it a sin to think this way…is it rong to have a motivation to go to heaven?
i wished to marry a particular person in this life..but that did not happen…so i am hoping it will happen in the next life at least…i know we will get watever we want in heaven…
is it rong to have this kind of intention while in this life ?is it a sin to wish to go to heaven just for a boy?
Note: I did not ask this Question ![]()
The Answer:
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Your Question: is it a sin to have intentions to go to heaven, the main reason is of course to escape from the tortures of hell fire…
The only reason for the creation of humankind by the Lord Creator, the only reason for the Merciful Lord to appoint and send His Prophets, and the only reason the Merciful Lord Revealed His Books of Guidance was to let mankind know the test their Lord Most Gracious had involved them in, give them the good news regarding the impending rewards that await those who pass their test, and warn them against the inevitable punishments that await those who fail.
Thus beloved sister, every believer who sincerely believes in Allah and the Last Day, must make a single-minded and focused mission of his life to attain those unimaginable and unending rewards of Paradise….and at the very least, absolutely make sure that whatever it takes and whatever sacrifices he might have to bear in this short period of one lifetime, he wants to stay absolutely clear of ever even approaching the flames of Hell-Fire!
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale-Imraan verses 131-133
131 (O ye who believe)Fear the fire which is prepared for those who reject faith.
***132 *And obey Allah and the Messenger; that ye may obtain Mercy.
***133 **Be quick (as if) in a race for forgiveness from your Lord and for a Garden whose width is that (of the whole) of the heavens and of the earth, prepared (only) for the Righteous. *
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 32 Surah Sajdah verses 18-20:
***18 *Is then the one who believes no better than the one who is rebellious and wicked? Not equal are they!
***19 *For those who believe and do righteous deeds are Gardens as hospitable homes for their (good) deeds.
***20 *As to those who are rebellious and wicked their abode will be the Fire: every time they wish to get away therefrom they will be forced thereinto and it will be said to them: "Taste ye the Penalty of the Fire, the which ye were wont to reject as false!
Far from being a sin, it is an absolute must that every believer should make it his one and only mission in life to attain Paradise and stay clear of Hell Fire! Without this prime mission, there is absolutely no way one can stay steadfast on the Straight Path as ordained by Allah Subhanah.
Your Question: for example…i wished for something to happen in this world…but that did not happen..now i wish that it shud happen atleast in my next life…permanent life…so i want to go to heaven,..is it a sin to think this way…is it rong to have a motivation to go to heaven?
Dear and beloved sister in Islam, this very thought and belief that if perchance one did not get what one wished in the life of this short and temporary world, one will have permanent and everlasting access to it in the Hereafter is precisely what gives and enhances patience, forbearance, and steadfastness….qualities that would lead one towards the Eternal Mercy and Unlimited Rewards of the Lord Most Gracious, Most Bounteous
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 29 Surah Ankabut verses 57-59:
**57 **Every soul shall have a taste of death: in the end to Us shall ye be brought back.
**58 **But those who believe and work deeds of righteousness to them shall We give a Home in Heaven: lofty mansions beneath which flow rivers–to dwell therein for aye; an excellent reward for those who do (good)!
**59 **Those who persevere in patience and put their trust in their Lord and Cherisher.
Your Question: i wished to marry a particular person in this life..but that did not happen…so i am hoping it will happen in the next life at least…i know we will get watever we want in heaven.
is it rong to have this kind of intention while in this life ?is it a sin to wish to go to heaven just for a boy?
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 50 Surah Qaaf verse 35:
There they (the men and women of Paradise) shall have all that they will desire, and We have with Us yet more for them!
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 25 Surah Furqan verses 15-16:
Ask them, “Is this (the Fire) better, or the Everlasting Gardens which have been promised to the God-fearing, righteous people (men and women)?”. That will be the recompense of their good deeds and the final destination of their journey, wherein, they will get everything they desire, and wherein they will dwell forever. This is a promise which your Lord has taken upon Himself to fulfill.
My dear and beloved sister, regardless of whatever intentions one has to attain Paradise….as long as those intentions inspire one to strive the necessary striving that leads one to the door-steps of Paradise….they cannot be wrong, nor can they be a sin!
The Solemn Promise of none other than the Majestic Lord of the Worlds is that He will provide and reward the fortunate dwellers of Paradise whatsoever their hearts may desire; and Allah Subhanah is our witness sister, none is Truer to his word than The Lord Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
It may be that you may ask your Lord for someone better than the one whom you love so much today to be your companion in Paradise; or it may be that the love that you have for the person today may diminish with the advent of time; or it may even be that the one whom you so love (Allah forbid) does not even make it to Paradise.
But rest assured sister, as long as one is fortunate enough to attain Paradise, they shall have whatsoever their hearts may desire…and Allah is our witness, never ever shall any of those fortunate and permanent guests of the Lord will ever be disappointed or dissatisfied with the provisions from their Lord Most Gracious.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 32 Surah Sajdah verse 17:
No living being knows what comfort of the eyes has been kept hidden from them, as a recompense for their (righteous) deeds!
