Interesting Extracts from the Book - I'm Malala

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I'm Malala

May be its due to the fact that BB's children stood by her, when she was shot. sympathies lead to sympathy. Lamb also wrote a book on BB in her life.

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I’m Malala

No one can better understand this than Muslims. Other religious groups were provided miracles. Like Bani Israel (Jews) were given Man o Salwa, Prophet of Christianity could make dead alive. But what was the miracle of Prophet of Islam? A book (Quran), which brought revolution within no time.

@Princejall

The irony is Muslims forgot that their powerful book contain everything about the live of Prophet. Prophet and Quran are inseparable. Prophet explained Quran and Quran explain the Prophet(SAW). It got answer to all the criticism including controversy of Satanic Verses. This Satanic Controversy is based on some secondary source of Muslim history like ‘Seerat e Ibn e Ishaq’. Interestingly, if Muslims read Quran on regular basis with meaning, they themselves can controvert the absurdity of Rushdie’s claim.

Surat At-Takwir [81:25] - The Noble Qur’an - ??? ???

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I'm Malala

her views seem balanced to me, but im not pakistani or muslim. maybe @Monk and @waleedhbk can post up the sections of the book they were disgusted with, as they keep mentioning.

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I'm Malala

^Being balanced is probably the problem..

Being critical or pointing out flaws = traitor (according to some)

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I’m Malala

No country was created with whole world happy about it. Pakistan was no different.
Since some areas we are behind india so, in that vacuum many people adopt indian rhetoric about pakistan’s creation. Usually pakistanis have heard that too many time.

Malala/Christian Lamb lazily took same line.

I read her book at most part, When I get chance I will reread it and post those parts.

It might take some time, but some things tells me we will be all still here

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I'm Malala

Monk pai, is that your only problem with her? her narrative on pakistan's creation?

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I'm Malala

I loved the book, I laughed so much reading it out of joy.
But then I felt betrayed.
Like I said we don't have tons for intentional literature of our own.
One book with I see on book shelf of every book store talk about the things the way, we pakistanis don't appreciate.

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I'm Malala

well that is my question - what about the book is what you dont appreciate despite liking it? so far, you have mentioned the creation of pakistan narrative. anything else specifically?

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I’m Malala

Even though I don’t know anything abt Bani Israel, and I don’t know if there were any miracles that Jesus performed, I like the point you made.

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I'm Malala

Mr. Monk,

Could you please cc me on your reply to the gentleman? Anxiously awaiting your detailed response. Chai and samosa standby on the ready.

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I'm Malala

There is always a limit to freedom of speech. When someone is igniting violence and hatred between people, that is too dangerous and to be allowed. There is always a topic in any society which nobody can say nasty things about. And that is understandable.

That said, if you forbid too much, even the most ridicilous, which can easily be laid aside with better arguments, then you aren't handling the situation accurately. Just my humble opinion.

By the way, I read the book and I liked it. The child was 16 and raised very close with her parents. She doesn't have that much life experience yet, even though she has been through more than most people have in their entire life. Of course she will often quote her parents, especially her father who is a an amazing person because he allows his daughter life choices and education. Not many fathers in our society allow their daughters important life choices, they decide for their daughters and the daughters must obey, even if it's horrible for the daughters and not right. I have a lot of respect for the parents of Malala and for Malala.

Read the book with an open mind, let go of any bizarre untrue conspiracy theories such as her being an 'agent of the west', etc.

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I’m Malala

Of Jinah, Independence, Women rights, minority issues… A loaded Paragraph from the book. But what is in this paragraph that we can deny khuda ko hazir naazir jaan ke? :hmmm:

I am** proud that our country was created as the world’s first Muslim homeland**, but we still don’t agree on what this means. The Quran teaches us sabar – patience – but often it feels that we have forgotten the word and think Islam means women sitting at home in purdah or wearing burqas while men do jihad. We have many strands of Islam in Pakistan. Our founder Jinnah wanted the rights of Muslims in India to be recognised, but the majority of people in India were Hindu. It was as if there was a feud between two brothers and they agreed to live in different houses. So British India was divided in August 1947, and an independent Muslim state was born. It could hardly have been a bloodier beginning. Millions of Muslims crossed from India, and Hindus travelled in the other direction. Almost two million of them were killed trying to cross the new border. Many were slaughtered on trains which arrived at Lahore and Delhi full of bloodied corpses. My own grandfather narrowly escaped death in the riots when his train was attacked by Hindus on his way home from Delhi, where he had been studying. Now we are a country of 180 million and more than 96 per cent are Muslim. **We also have around two million Christians and more than two million Ahmadis, who **say they are Muslims though our government says they are not. Sadly those minority communities are often attacked.

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I’m Malala

Ok thanks for reminding me such a full of S#!T book.

you F-in kidding me ??? That what the country is all about ???
Ruthless wolf pack of a countries are ok. and problem with a small surviving country ?

When Ms Lamb know so much know about what jinnah was thinking, did she not know… ahmdis were declared non muslim in 70s, Christian were there since 1947… when were they attacked before current wave of extremism ??

And after the current wave of extremism who is not attacked???..

Statics speaks for them self… check the number of death in hands of extremists…
are christian or ahmadies on the TOP???
if not whole point is BULS$it

How conveniently “Malala” become a dadi amma when she need to criticize paksitan creation, and how conviently she becomes a 13 year old cartoon watching kid when, its time to criticize current day situation.

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I'm Malala

lol...I think every honest person is gonna have to agree with this bit of your post.

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I’m Malala

What Jinah was thinking is quite apparent from the status of his sister Ms Fatima Jinah and other ladies of Muslim League. Have you ever seen Ms Jinah in Burqa? Even there are famous accounts of Mr Jinah defending Mrs Ruttie Jinah against harsh comments a british lady for wearing a dress, which she though was not appropriate.

Have you forgotten history of tribal people involving in 1948 war? Jehad in 1980s and Taliban apologist in recent times who termed killers of thousands as ‘shaheed’. What is wrong if such things are hilighted. If Malala / Lamb haven’t written these lines, would we have not lost thousands of innocent people in Pakistan?

So Qadiyanis were never attacked before current wave of extremism after 9/11? I think google can help anyone to find out such incidents during Zia regime and even before that.

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I'm Malala

no let me So you.
So you are saying only ahmadis were attack before current wave of extremism ? That make Malal a liar, you words.

what jinnah and his sister ?? I think pakistani women dress moderate even with out taliban policing. We are against any one forcing dress code on people. I dont know what we talking about dress code here ?

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I'm Malala

Monk stats r funny business. Will read ur post carefully. One thing jumped out.

Stats will show before current wave of extremism Ahmedis not at top of people being attacked.

What does that even mean? At the top based on absolute numbers? Since they are a minority very difficult for being at the top, no.

Thanks for cc ing me.

Re: Interesting Extracts from the Book - I'm Malala

That means, extremism is raging anaconda which is swallowing every thing on its path.
Sunni muslims being majorities are most ones killed.

Now if some one try find pattern, deeper then this, in data available, he/she is working on some agenda.
It can not be made crime against minorities, its crime against the whole country. According to number of casualties.
