Okay I’m not referring to the book but I have heard her talks and I have a big problem when she talks on behalf of the Pakistani women when she hasn’t seen or experienced other parts of Pakistan except the Pakhtuns areas. Her view of Pakistani women is based on Pathan women in conservative areas of Pakistan. She hasn’t seen women in other parts of the country driving, getting co-educated, and working in almost every field. So yeah, thanks to Malala, now all the gorays who know her think of us Pakistani women as backward goat-herders.

I quite agree with your observation. But there are two aspects to this:

First and foremost, majority women in rural areas have to go through all this what Malala mentions. Remember rural areas forms around 70% of Pakistan.

Secondly, goras should not take Malala’s book as a bible to Pakistani society, they can refer to other sources. Its not only Malala that can represent Pakistan. So, many Pakistani living abroad can portray the other side of picture as well.
