Re: Intense work outs for lower abs
^ i was directing that comment to those that say that spot reduction can't be done.
gidsa, saying that "spot reduction" can't happen doesn't make sense to me :P.....i mean i workout almost every day on the treadmill but if i stop doing my ab exercises or tricep exercises then obviously those muscles in those areas will turn to jiggle heaven even if i keep doing the treadmill workout
Re: Intense work outs for lower abs
^i agree. you have to work out specific areas if you want to tone them. definitely.
Re: Intense work outs for lower abs
How come you have fat arms? are you fat?. coz i can tell you arms workout to loose all that fat.
Re: Intense work outs for lower abs
Yes I very fat, now please tell me
Re: Intense work outs for lower abs
Area-specific exercises have been around for ages. So yes "spot reduction" is possible.
Of course, the key is to do couple these with stretching (to strengthen hamstrings etc) with some light weights and aerobic exercise (running, cycling, swimming).
Do as I say, not as I do.
Re: Intense work outs for lower abs
and i really don't agree that spot reduction can't happen.

Spot reduction does not exist and if it does, its effects and insignificant enough to regard them non-existent.
When you say those muscles will turn to jiggle if you don't condition them and keep doing the treadmill, you're mistaken. Working those muscles will keep them conditioned, yes. But not working them will not make turn them into jelly. They will still be there, just means you'll have to work on the treadmill much more.
Yeah, you can build muscle and condition the areas you are targeting but that is not spot reduction. Spot reduction means losing fat in specific areas of your body. And you can't really have that. What building muscle and toning the areas does is give an illusion that you have less fat because, well, more muscle shows through.
Area-specific exercises have been around but that is not spot reduction. They are exactly how you said it; area-specific exercises to build more muscle and condition.
I'm not saying don't do targeted exercises. I'm saying doing targeting exercises is not the way to lose fat from a particular area; it is a way to build more muscle in a particular area.
You can do a thousand crunches every single day for years and years but that will never give you a six pack. True story. That will give you the most amazing six packs hidden under a layer of fat. Another true story.
Work on your whole body and that's the only way you'll lose fat from your entire body. Slowly but surely.
Re: Intense work outs for lower abs
I tried to get my belly fat go away but after so many years of workout I couldn't, then found out about "Eat for your blood type", where it states the food you should eat and the food you must avoid with your blood type. e.g..I'm AB+, I can not eat chicken due to the lectin it has, once I quit chicken, I flatten my tummy, lost 4 inches of waist line. Google "eat for your blood type"..really changed my life.. I never lost any weight while working out, there may be few pounds but that was water weight.. Good Luck !!
Re: Intense work outs for lower abs
Another trip my trainer gave me is that when you work out in gym with different machines..don't take breaks between your work out. For example, if you're working on chest, abs and triceps then focus on those by constantly doing them without any break. And make sure to do at least one set for each of these workout. Don't do..abs then break for few mins...chest..break..so on and so on. Just be on a go. And reason for that is..when your heart rate is up..the chances of you loosing all that weight and fat becomes high.
