Outgoing ISI chief invites politicians to iftar-dinner
** Dissident PML MNAs also asked to attend dinner

ISLAMABAD: The outgoing Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) director general, Lt Gen Ashfaq Pervaiz Kiani, has invited top PML leaders, cabinet ministers and trusted aides of President Gen Pervez Musharraf to an Iftar dinner on Wednesday, Daily Times learnt on Sunday.
The Iftar will be hosted at the ISI Mess just behind the Judges Enclave on Margalla Road.
The dinner is being seen as a major political gathering, coming as it does just one day before Gen Musharraf is to submit nomination papers to the Election Commission for the presidential election scheduled for October 6.
The sources said the invitation had been served to all cabinet ministers, advisors and other notables and the protocol officer of Gen Kiani was confirming participation by phone.
Dissident MNAs invited: Gen Musharraf and the newly nominated ISI chief, Lt Gen Nadeem Taj, are also expected to attend the Iftar. Besides Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, some dissident MNAs have also been extended invitations.
The sources said that National Security Council Secretary Tariq Aziz, Military Intelligence Director General Major General Mian Nadeem Ijaz Ahmad and Intelligence Bureau Director General Brigadier (r) Ejaz Shah are also likely to attend the Iftar.
