Re: inspirational stories
Almost a year and a half ago I was walking all alone, through a path near the jungle close to my university, early in the morning just after morning namaz. I saw nearly 7-8 wild dogs (approximately the size of wolfs) going in a group towards my way. Their sharps teeths were visible from their open mouths as they seemed to be in search of food. When they saw me, they ignored me and kept searching. But as they were in my way and there was no other short route, I had to pick a stone to scare them so that they may move away from my way. Usually when there used to be one dog alone, it used to move away from my path, BUT I was unaware that their is something called "Group psychology". They all started barking and running towards me. I was shocked. I knew if I run, they would bite me, so I remained where I was standing. One of them jumped at me and I tried to punch it, but it immediately moved away its face. Within few seconds they all surrounded me and I lost my balance and fell on the ground. Suddenly it was complete darkness in front of my eyes. Unintentionally the following came out of my mouth "La ilaha ilAllah" (There is no deity (worthy of worship) but (the One) Allah) I heard their voice moving away and when I opened my eyes I felt that some force pushed them aside and they all started runing away as if they saw something. I thought someone came to rescue me, but when I looked around, there was none around me. But at a certain distance I saw an old man who was yelling at me as if he was angry at me for using that path.
That night I decided to return to my hostel from the main road, because I thought that those dogs might get alert from my smell if I go through the short cut again. Unfortunately there were very few people around (as it was quite late) and guess what!! I saw those dogs searching for meal in the Dustbins and other waste material that was placed near the road. I was coming from their back side so I thought I should change my path before they see me, but they raised their heads suddenly as if they smelled something. They moved their heads back in a flash. When they saw me they all started walking towards me without making any voice. I remained in my position with my hands in the pocket and started reciting the verses of Quran which were coming to my mind. They passed near me sniffing as if they were going to see if my attitude is aggressive or not. And then they left me.
From that time onwards I used to feel a cold chill whenever I passed by any dog. But by the grace of Allah I have overcame it to some extent and am feeling better now.
@STP: WoW!
Re: inspirational stories
Br STP! that’s some experience! SubhanAllah.
I’ve posted this story in Life 4 before, my Mum told it to us (it happened before she was married so its been a while). The point is to show that there are good people in this world, who look way beyond the materials and sacrifice their needs to meet somebody elses.
i’ll shorten it to dot points:
-
family was financially a bit unsettled, parents passed away, brother decides to save up for his sister’s wedding… did the best he could and got together jeheiz for her and what not
-
come the wedding day… the jeheiz has ALREADY been sent to the dulha’s house. @ the Nikah ka time… the moulvi is stopped from proceeding and the groom makes a stupid demand; he wants a motorised scooter… and the bride’s poor brother was like “i dont have any more money”. Woh cheap dulha arh gaya and said that if i dont get a scooter then i won’t say “yes”… on top the groom’s father also backed his pathetic son up!
-
the buzzurg come in and they decide to tie the broom and his father up for being such pricks! ppl start throwing things at 'em, old ladies take off their jooti’s and start hitting, cursing, u name it… the groom’s uncle runs to the police station to get help!
-
the police came, found out what had happened, and decided to add a personal touch and gave the groom a stick or two. and told the rest of the ppl to knock themselves out bashing the groom up
-
they decided to call the wedding off (shukr) and some of the ppl went to retrieve the jeheiz, and got it back peacefully enuf.
-
an old uncle from the mohalla said “yeh bachi dulhan ban ke beithi hai, aur yeh aaj apney susraal hi mein lotey gi”… so he went home, woke up his jawan son and said “son, you’re getting married”… brought his son to the hall… the nikah was carried out and I am praying that they lived happily ever after,

Re: inspirational stories
^ That's such a good story, assuming they did live happily ever after. It's one of those rare events when the local community join together for the forces of good!
Serves the groom and his dad right, greedy so and so's!

Re: inspirational stories
Back home in Pakistan , I come from a low middle class family. I had completed my bachelors degree and had no sense of direction what to do with it. I was standing with some friends at a street corner and having gupshup . A saw a shiny car pass by and said in my heart when is Allah going to give me a car like that. Alhudulillah Allah accepted my duaa and provided me sense of direction . I completed my Masters degree and got a very decent job and worked my tail off at my company, they gave me a brand new company maintained car. It all happened in just a short span of 3 years. Those were the days when there were millions of bachelors and masters degree holders on the road looking for job. I had no sifarish but Allah to help me fulfill my dreams.
I could never be thankful to Allah for rewarding me highly.
Re: inspirational stories
its not very specific, but in life whenever imagined /wished for something in my heart, i found myslef there in short time. After bachelor in Chemistry and Physics I was going to take on Masters in Chemistry had no real choice as i couldnt get admission in Physics. here comes the change, during my free time between results i enrolled myself into a Post Graduate diploma in computer sciences just as additional passtime study, it changed my life and career preference, i ditched the masters in Chemistry, done masters in computer sceince , during this i envy working for a top class company one of my teacher was working for. things changed dramitcally , i was head hunted by the same company in my last semester and had a job offer before even finishing my masters, i had one month break after graduation and started working with them.
all along small things i wanted, the bikes, cars i wanted to drive i got it all one by one. studying abroad wish was on back burner cause one i couldn't afford it very easily, 2nd parents wouldn't allow me. things changed again and i was on plane to London to complete another masters from London university, during this uni session we had campus exhibition from a big 4 consultancy i attended that when enquired can i apply, as i was finishing next year couldn't apply as they were looking for the final year graduates.. had a wish to either joing them or similar company once i complete.... i graduated and was all set to come back to Pakistan as it was hard to get work visa without getting marrying to someone that i didnt want to do. with very less hope, i applied in 3 companies, got offer from all and were ready to process the visas too , 4th interview came out of blue as one of my friend forwarded my old CV without telling me to the same company i met on campus a year ago... went for interview, and a week later got offer from them too , one cant wish for such blessing when many local people finding hard to get job after so many applications. I selected the top one they processed a valid work visa for full length 5 years, i worked with them 6 years during that time had opportunity to work with world class professionals from high end companies and clients and almost found myself to be only Pakistani in the every team of such people. it is high flying career one could wish for, 5 star hotels, business class flights to many countries. thanks to Allah
i feel when i wish, either i work towards it and blessing from Allah i tend to acheive it in some time later, and being human with ambition and wish go to next level. which i guess drive me to the next objective with faith in Allah.
