Is there any way to cure insomnia…or is this only in our heads? What is the reason for not being able to sleep at night even if you are tired ?
Any useful suggestions.

Don't worry about getting to sleep. Lack of sleep never killed anybody. Just tell yourself that you'll catch up tomorrow night instead.
Exercise or reading usually helps me. Fatigue makes me wanna relax my muscles and serious laborious reading makes me want to relax my brain. :)
What gets you tired?!
My brother can't go to sleep unless he flips channels lying down on the couch.
Mr Xtreme, Well I am not complaining, but it's only the next day does not help... the more tired you get, the more difficult to fall sleep, worst thing is getting up in the early morning coz of lack of sleep, the whole day is ruined afterwards and you feel like doing nothing productive for the whole day.
admadjee, hehe I can't sleep without daily dosis of TV too.. :)
Sadi,
it's usually anxiety about getting to sleep which compound the problem even more. So if you resign yourself to the fact that you aren't going to get yourself to sleep when you want to, it at least gets rid of that problem. Look at it this way, you'll have one bad day, two, maybe three...sooner or later you'll probably be so knackered you'll probably be zonked for 24 hrs and wake up the next day as fresh as a daisy.
just go easy on pak.org .....also make sure that u don't have a PC in ur room....
agar neend ki itni hi problem hai then I suggest some coffee or tea...that helps...or pro plus.....choclate is also good.....
Xtreme, thanks it makes sense, I knew it was all in the head.
He Devil, hey don't worry, I am not pak.org addicted.
Sadi-
Make time for yourself to unwind before you hit the sack. Prepare yourself by a daily routine, such as a reading for 15 -20 mins before going to bed, a nice relaxing warm shower, listen to soothing music as you get ready for bed.
Mint & Lavendar are known to be soothing & relaxing. There are some calming sprays which utilize aroma therapy to help you relax.
Drink a glass of hot milk
Get plenty of physical exercise. Often, we are tired due to mental exertion but rarely do we get the physical exercise. house to car, car to office, office to elevator, elevator to desk, sit all day and then come home the same way. Try to incorporate activities such as taking the stairs a couple of flights instead of elevator, parking a bit farther away, and make an effort to get into an exercise routine.
Try to keep a schedule, go to sleep the same time everyday and wake up the same time. Tune into your body's internal clock.
Sweet Dreams Sadi
So did it work? ![]()
From personal experience I find that taking a nice warm shower does the trick. I am out like a light after that.
Yes it did, I am sleeping better now. Thanks all :)
SADI pahen...namaaz par kai sou...bohat achi neend aye gee...let me translate it for u...cause when u talk about prayers ppl tend to forget their native tongue....try praying isha and then going to sleep...INNIT
He_devil bro, I never denyed that I am not a desi nor I never said I don't understand my native language nor I never will... back to topic well like I said before, all comes from mind, our mind controls our body, when we are free from sorrows and worries our mind is free from all kinds of thoughts and tension, so thats how we can sleep without fearing another dreadful maybe 'hard' day, but when we know that tomorrow is unclear, we think over how and in which way we can prevent from the next day being like it was that present day, our brain is full of different thoughts and in such a stage our mind can never relax and when our mind can't relax, how will our body rest and fall sleep? The clue to whole dilemma is to find a way to relax our mind even when we are facing the most horrible days of our life, how can that be done? this is where each and every invididual needs to reflex over which way is their way of aiming that peaceful stage of mind, like Mr Xtreme already said usually anxiety keeps us awake, we need to give some time to our brain to relax everyday, where we sort out our thoughts and let it relax, here may be many methods like yoga, a warm bath, reading or namaaz, that day will come when I will read namaaz regulary before sleeping, I am aiming to get there, insahallah.
I become an insomniac when Ive got worries about something..
it lasts for a while.. the thing is not to let it become a 'problem' or a routine. it'l pass.
