Do you think desis can be insecure, and do you think its due to the pressures of our culture that some of us can be insecure? Or maybe how we’re raised by our families?

I think there are insecurities in everyone, regardless of their nationalities or cultures. Off course, they differ from person to person and culture to culture and by the way they have been raised.

apart from that, i feel insecurities within a person differ from time to time as well, with the changes and growth life brings you.

By insecurities, I mean the idea of being insecure to live your life the way you want to. Not taking iniative. Not doing well at school, or at work. Not being professional. Resorting to gossip and making other people's lives miserable, etc. I see these things more in Pakistanis, that I would like to see.

^^^ if anyone ( whether pakistani or other) do such things intentionally & habitually i'll rather call them losers. ( called "dheet" in urdu , aur aadat say majboor)

Desis take the cake for gossiping... but alot of them are really actually good in studies.. cuz its their parents dream to see em as doctors and all....

One basic sociological concept is we tend to view ourselves as others see us...
So your level of insecuirty isnt inherent its dependent on the environment your in...
So if your a fat person chilling with girls who think its cool to be fat then your fine...but if everyone around you wants to be stick thin then insecurities will occur...
Insecurities are never our own doing...advertising is all baout selling a product and how better to sell a product than to make people feel insecure...
So as an example would anyone give a **** about the size of their piece if it wasnt for constant advertising telling you that bigger is better...
Family can only do so much its the wider capitalist world which ends up turning everyone into insecure depressed people who want to be something but can never achieve their expectations...

I think every1 is insecure in their own way abt something or rather. I mean i used to b insecure when i was younger but since i got married and really grew up my insecurities went. But i do think every1 has their issues.

gossiping is resulting less from insecurity feeling than from a narrow mind
I think gossiping is very common among not only desis but lot other muslim women, because they are not enough educated. The lack of education comes from the low status of women in traditional muslim societies where women must be kept inside the house away from men....so away from the normal social interactions that makes someone educated.....and open minded enought not to gossip...
and being housewife (against own will) is also kinda big source of gossip...it comes from frustration, idleness and some feeling you're bound to be the "inferior" being...
naturally young educated girl can wonder why are their female ancestors so different......

tons of ppl are insecure...mostly all woman. and YES YES YES especially desis. id like to think that its everyone in general but its NOT. desis are something extra. they are so insecure, they always want the spotlight to be on them and are always trying to compete even with good friends. maybe its because desi parents tend to compare their kids to other "supposedly good muslim" kids? maybe thats the reason i am not sure but i do know that they are def way more insecure.
