What’s up with the crazy prices of formal clothing in Pak now? Something you used to pay 10,000 rupees for has rocketed up to 25000. I placed an order for some suits to wear at a cousin’s wedding InshAllah and couldn’t help wonder: How will some families afford suits for 25000 and above for a single event ( to wear for someone’s mehndi etc)? There are numerous in house boutiques in Islamabad who provide decent clothes but the prices aren’t that low. In the end 2-3 suits would come up to 70,000- 75000 rupees ( or even more in some cases). I couldn’t help think about people who may be on tight budgets and have loads of daughters! Gold prices are insane and now clothing prices aren’t any less.

The crazy high prices are all due to the insanely rising inflation prices in Pakistan as well as is the same case with the rest of the world. The Pakistan floods and earthquakes have also increased inflation throughout Pakistan which is why the cost of living, clothes etc has gone up sharply.
Inshallah May Allah reward our struggles.
Re: Insanely crazy prices
Yeah, I've heard the price of lawn itself has pretty much doubled. You can't find a suit (unstiched 3 piece lawn print) for less than 3000-5000 these days. I'm talking about the kapraa alone.
I'm not getting any more outfits done with prices like these. I'll show up to desi dawats in my American clothes.
BTW, the price of cotton (raw) is doubling around the world, and so prices of garments in general are going up. Within the year, the price of jeans, clothes at the mall, etc - all will see a huge price hike, supposedly. It's been on CNN.
I've actually been shopping quite a bit for next year's wardrobe for this very reason.
Re: Insanely crazy prices
I mean, can you imagine paying double for your work wardrobe? I already spend so much on work clothes!

That was back in November. The cotton problem was featured last week on CNN too.
