How do you deal with them ? Specially few of us desi people have this problem, it becomes quite difficult when they want to know everything, specially the things not realted to them! What my colleague is talking on the phone to his wife is non of my business. Not something that I should FULLY pay attention to! and later pass on a cheap joke…
What is placed on his table, there is no need for me to secretly scan my eyes over each and every bit of the documents placed on his table, every time I pass by, while he is talking to someone else. After he turns to you Ohh…so you are applying to that organization. Why didn’t you tell me ?!. That is a lovely picture of your… So you are also working on this project. Why didn’t you tell me that you are inivited to that gathering…? I also wanted to apply…
Of course one shouldn’t put ones private stuff on ones table, but at times being human one might forget something on the table which the other person should immediately remove his eyes off after getting the hint that it is something private.
I am not sure what to say to the person whom you allow to use your computer, and when he gets bored, he starts to check your folders/documents, probably in search of some knowledge/entertainment, and might even check the history of your web searches, as you go to the washroom for a minute. Yep, thats too possible in our desi culture. Don’t ask me how do I come to know of all those acts. They usually don’t bother much about erasing the traces that lead to other people easily know the inqusitiveness of their mind.
Re: Inquisitive Minds at times become really testing
Well, it is there in all the cultures, I have seen few cases in other cultures also, but I have observed some desis who go a bit too far in inquistiveness. Or probably because of the fact that I didn't come across people of other culture as often as that of desi culture. (Generally speaking). I might be totally wrong, don't know.
Re: Inquisitive Minds at times become really testing
Btw, I hope no one takes it as an offense. Being part of the same culture/society I feel that this could possibly be because of the fact that we (desis) are relatively less conservative and more frank is sharing various aspect/matters of our lives, due to which few of us might consider some of the things for granted and share-able (Is there such a word ?)while others might consider it violation of their privacy.
Please do correct me if I said anything objectioble, so that I may correct my way of thinking. JazakAllah khair.
Re: Inquisitive Minds at times become really testing
well in a thread if it's an important piece of info that the advice would depend on then i don't see anything wrong with asking for clarifications. but i've had a situation where some people online on another site tried to get info from hacking into my account, those were desi and they had no right but sometimes, people would go to any lengths to destroy a person from inside and in public. one word for those kinds of people: slime!
there was another time recently when a desi was employed by the university to be a part of the IT department at the college, he would occasionally when he felt like it try use his privileges\rights and got himself into people private email accounts just to see what the students were talking with each other. seriously it's like they know no boundaries........ majorly pissed off ok rant over :takes a bow:
Re: Inquisitive Minds at times become really testing
I agree that this is an issue in Desi's more then other cultures (that I know of). I have all sorts of friend but I find that my brown friends are always a little bit more curious then the rest. It's a horrible habit to be so nosy and curious
