Inners of life..Great Authors

hey guys y dnt we start a thread in which we discuss different novels of our great authors…sharing the beautiful paras n all that…so lets begin with any novel of ur choice…i’d love to start wid umera ahmad’s…

re: Inners of life..Great Authors

Umera Ahmed… I am big big fan of her  have gone through almost every novel and short story written by her. Lets start with “Zindagi Gulzar Hai”

re: Inners of life..Great Authors

ok i also luv this one...its very practical nd ..u go ahead....
i'd luv to start wid it....

re: Inners of life..Great Authors

Many people haven't read it. It was the first ever effort of Umera and she herself admitted in the preface of her book that it is the weakest story she had ever wrote. According to her
**"Zindagi Gulzar hai"* meri pehli tehreer thi jisay me nay apni hand writting behter kernay ke liye likhna shuru kia tha. Uss waqt mujhay na to ye andaza tha ke mujh main likhnay ki salahiyat hai na hi ye irada tha kay me isay shaya karwaon gi"*

But she didn't know this start would become her identity :). Though unlike her other stories and novels, I hardly found any memorable quote in it but still I love to read it again & again.

re: Inners of life..Great Authors

what's the story about elegance? .. i think everyone who posts an excerpt here should also post a little info about the author's work..so we who aren't familiar with the work can be a little informed :)

btw abeeha - neat idea for a thread! i want to see the lit quiz thread up and running again =/

re: Inners of life..Great Authors

I was about to move on dewani teri. That's why I started from the introduction :)

A simple story of college life . A very rich boy and a very poor girl in the same college traditonal fight among them and boy slaps her infront of a large group of people . She vows to take revenge of it . Girl gets chance to insult him. And boy realizes that SHE was the girl , he was looking for marriage.

Re: Inners of life..Great Authors

actually its not simply abt a boy nd girl...tha strong character of a girl who lives nd survives in the cruel world with all her complexes nd short comings nd most of all her strong character...nd her character is the most imp thing which inspires the boy to marry her.....its really worth reading...do read it...u'll surely enjoy...

Re: Inners of life..Great Authors

^ correct, the girl and her thoughts, her complexes like many other girls who beling to the lower classes. But the important thing to learn is that KASHAF (Girl in the novel) keeps her self-respect safe and never tries to let her inferiority complex get on her nerves. That's the thing which is needed to realize.

Re: Inners of life..Great Authors

hmmm so wat more u people wanna discuss abt this nvl.....anybody else....who wana know something....

Re: Inners of life..Great Authors

hey guys where r all of u.......?

Re: Inners of life..Great Authors

Sorry, now you may start with any other novel that you think has a great impact on your life.

Re: Inners of life..Great Authors

lets start with....AMAR BAIL

Re: Inners of life..Great Authors

It's the best story I've ever read the content the characters the situations all are awesome. One character that comes to my mind is UMER, without him Amarbail is nothing. This is the only novel in which we are forced to love evil.

Re: Inners of life..Great Authors

really its something much much more than extra ordinary....even i've started loving bureaucracy after reading it....its so exciting so passionately written....nd UMER'S character is eternal....he has a strong will power...nd so influential character...nd when i finished with this nvl i wept for the whole night....dnt know for what...for Umer...for Aleeza...or for WHAT?

Re: Inners of life..Great Authors

hey nobody is interested in discussing this nvl?

Re: Inners of life..Great Authors

The main object that I have with Umaira AHmed’s writing style is that her characters are too flat. They totally depend on such imaginary sitatuations, which I do not believe that occur in routine or real life, either. Take this example of the first novel that you mentioned.I do not believe it happens what did in the story, i.e. poor girl and rich guy having clash and endup in falling in love etc. Pure zanane digests wali situation for me., I agree and respect her words when she herself confesses that she wrote the novelonly to improve her handwriting :halo:

Her characters tend to be ideally perfect, each way, i.e if they are good, they are like angels. And if they are bad, they are villianous. Now real life characters aint like that. They have these natural germs of goodness and badness aswell and its actually this struggle which matters, but you will find very less of something like this ih hernovels. She portrays the people of extra ordinary qualities. Her heroes should be perfect. They should be rich and handsome. Her heroines are not rich. But they are either too pretty or they have some inherent magic by which htey can charm the rich and perfect guys to fall in love with them. In any case, they are perfect in their own way. They are extra ordinarily religious, determined and patient, angelic characters, exsisting in such a mundane and flesh and blood world, when a man is tempted and trialed on each step and resisting one time, and giving in the other. But you will find the opposite in her world, i.e. stead fast perfection. There is no mid way, atleast I havent found any, given that I have actually stopped reading. But what I have read, and I do have read considerably much of her, I have developed this kind of boredom and distaste towards reading her. Well but this is something of purely personal perspective. There are still herds who LOVE reading her, irrespective of gender and age. Good for them.

Well, I agree with some of your points. Every author has some specific styles and writing charactristics like you mentioned that most of her heros belong to extra rich familes and her heroins are poor but egoistic. BUT she is still the favorite writer of so many people. WHY? because she is different anyway. If she's specific in the selection of her chracters then she often comes up with the subject that revovle around our lives unlike the other typical female writers. For example, when I read her Peer-e-Kaamil, Haasil, Laahaashil and Man-o-Salwa then I got to know many realities about the relationship between God and Man. I analysed myself that who I am and What I am. Also she tries her best to depict human thoughts and psychology in many of her creations. The fond of reading typical romantic novels cannot digust her novels and I admit that.

Besides, the philosophy and the diction she uses is remarkable and I think that is the important thing that a good author should possess. Above all I think some readers read books NOT to get their lives influenced by the writings but just for the sake of fun , relaxation and enjoyment, it doesn't matter for them if the novel is not based on real life facts. So even if the people do not really concernd about the reality based thiongs n novels they do read Umaira Ahmed.

Apparently, Umaira's first story doesn't have anything impressive and she herself admitted in the preface that it was her weakest creation ever. But it always depends on the reader that how he grabs anything which is inspiring for him/her because author never explains anything.

Well mirage some of comments r true but some of them ...i totally disagree with u…
I dnt think so her characters r flat….some of them u can say but not all…and If u talk abt imaginary situations, that’s not all in all, like if u criticize “zindagi gulzar hai” then its her first creation..and no body is perfect in creating something first time. Moreover “zanana digests” r full of imaginary situations like the hero fall in love wen he saw the heroine by some accident…how imaginary nd dramatic it is..Even these things hav no relation wid real life.
Well her characters r not too perfect or too bad….in this 1st nvl….hero is not perfect and also heroine in not perfect but also they r not too bad to say like that, u can find in them both wiles nd virtuesalong with complexes related to their respective classes. similarly in “Peer-e-kamil”,”Amarbail”,”Lahasil”…all the heroes and heroines r not too perfect nor too bad….if u want I can discuss all of them here.
Nxt u say her heroes r too rich and heroines r not…but I must say dear that in “amarbail” Aleeza is very rich girl….in “Peer-e-kamil” Imama belongs to a rich class.am not saying that she’s a perfect author or whatever she wrote is right….i also criticize some of her points…but wat u r saying atleast I dnt agree with it…and I think if a writer’s work effects u so that u even adore any single point in it then that’s the real response to it. Well ur comments seems to b like u hav only read very few of her works and giv soooooo much comments…not even true….but anyways everyone hav freedom of expression.

Re: Inners of life..Great Authors

Girls, you dont have to agree at all. Atleast Now. Take some time and enjoy reading her. :)

Re: Inners of life..Great Authors

Sorry abiha, i didnt read your complete post, before. Now let me clear you up, I have read considerable of her, and then I just very much lost the interest. Ofcourse its about those times when I wasnt masters myself. But once when I got the opportunity to read better literature, and my critical eye also opened, Im sorry i couldnt find much in her. She is good for teenagers, even for the ones in the early twenties, because that is when you tend to think more and ponder less. Dont feel bad about my remarks regarding her. It was my opinion, and im not imposing it on you or anyone :)
