Are we born with certain abilities or do we all have to work on it? Is there such a thing called born to be a leader or born to be a musician or born wicked? Or all of us have to work hard at stomping that podium in style or being funny?

I think to a certain extent we are born with certain abilities...for example in my class.....there are certain people who only go to about 2/3 lectures in a whole year (im talking about myself), and still pass with good marks.
on the other hand, there are people who spend their whole year in the library....and still end up failing.
thats a natural ability we are born with.
although if we try really really hard, we may be able to do a thing which we werent born with the ability of :)

I don't really believe talents are innate, as in a person being able to play the piano, it is not innate, it is something they were good at learning and therefor worked hard at becoming better at it. They could have applied that want/need to learn to anything and would have succeeded. Impossible is nothing and all that.
Style and sense of humor are not talents and abilites, they are attributes people have which vary depending on time, company, mood and a range of other factors.
Certain attributes feel innate at times, but I think one has to work hard at keeping those characteristics 'innate'.

Impulse, your last comment about working hard seem to suggest that you believe that while some of us are born with a gift, other can atain it if they work hard enough. Which implies that none of us are born with the disability.
I actually disagree with that. I believe some people, no matter how hard they try cannot be funny, like my good friend Miss_Mohabbat here.

being funny means different things to different people. so at the end of the day, that person you dont find funny, someone else may find them funny. howver, there may be one person whos a comedian and everyone finds them so funny, but they may be certain people who DONT find them funny. so what exactly is being funny?

I think everyone with an average IQ i.e. not mentally challenged have this innate learning ability, but it depends on what type of environment they are exposed to. If its a stimulating one.. one's learning ability thrives, develops interests and thus achieve more than their counterparts. Its more about having oppurtunities and being in the right place at the right time.

Please do explain what being funny means to you? Impuse and I would love to hear. Perhaps you could reccommend certain phrases and words funny people might use. English words only mind, no American ones please. :p

Anyone who is funny knows it not as much about the words, its about the ability to catch the moment. Timing is what makes things funny!

I have an innate ability to impress people...I suppose that annoys people at the same time but I also have the innate ability to not care what people think so I suppose alls good.

I think you grow as a person through the influences you are put under as a kid. (no, I'm not talking about drugs lol) :D
We can't be born with it, otherwise we'd show that talent even as an infant, yea? I think it's got to do with how you're raised and what type of people you hang out with.

example every person cannot sing like nusrat fateh ali khan or every person cannot be as handsome as Hazrat Yusuf nor every body can be michealanglo
but working hard can help do things upto a lil extent
