I didnt even know was martyred…

Amir (Commander) Khattab was a native of Saudi Arabia. His father is a Saudi. The family of Khattab belongs to one of the most ancient clans of Arabia. His mother is Turkish and a native of Turkey. Khattab has many relatives. Back home his family is respected and considered pretty wealthy. According to some information, Khattab has 8 brothers. When he was 15, his parents decided to send him to the United States to study. But the young man left the family and motivated his decision by the right to make his own choice and take part in Jihad, according to the Shari’ah. Even though his older brother was trying to talk him out of it, Khattab left for Afghanistan as a volunteer. For several years he was fighting against the troops of Soviet invaders. This is where he was wounded. After the Soviet troops withdrew, Khattab returned home. But soon after that he went back to Afghanistan to help Tajik and Uzbek refugees. As Khattab himself said, in December 1994 he found out about the war in the Caucasus from CNN reports. He knew nothing about Chechnya before that, except for the stories about Imam Shamil, who is buried in Medina. Khattab was telling that he made a decision to go to Chechnya after he saw on TV how Chechen Mujahideen were proclaiming «Allah Akbar!» (God is Great!). Khattab arrived to Chechnya with two of his companions in the spring of 1995, and had not left Chechnya ever since.

Khattab was an active participant of war operations against the troops of Russian invaders, starting March 1995 until March 2002. In 1996 on the order from President of CRI he was appointed as Chief of Military Training Center of Central Front of CRI Armed Forces. Khattab held the post of the Military Commander of Majlis al-Shura of the Mujahideen of Ichkeria and Dagestan. He was the Deputy of Shamil Basayev (Amir of Majlis al-Shura). Khattab was in command of the Islamic International Brigade. He was granted the highest awards of the Chechen State. Married to a Darginian woman, a native of the village of Karamakhi, Dagestan, and has two children.

Assuredly, He shall make them enter by an entrance that they will love. For, verily, Allah is Knower, Most-forbearing. That is so. Whoever retaliates with the like of what He has been made to suffer, and shall then be wronged again, Allah shall surely succour him; verily, Allah blots out sins and is constantly Forgiving. That is because Allah causes the night to pass into day, and causes the day to pass into night, and because Allah is Hearer, Seer. " 22:58-61

“Say: Verily, my worship and my sacrifice, and my living and my dying belong to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.” 6:163

“Verily, Allah hath bought of the believers their lives and their wealth, because the Garden will be theirs; they shall fight in the way of Allah, and they shall slay and be slain, a promised binding on Him in Truth, in the Torah and the Gospel and the Quran; and who is more faithful to His covenant than Allah? Rejoice then in the covenant which ye have made with Him, for that is the supreme triumph.” 9:111

Yes lajawab.....

he was a great personlity...may ALLAH give his mission a success....

and the sad thing was.....he was poisioned by his close friend...he happend to be an agent....

i wonder when muslims will understand that betrayel from ummah is very harm ful for thier akhra to say the least....

chechan mujahedeen are the toughest mujahedeen u would ever see....

as russians are very tough/ and brave opponents ....but are outclasses by chechans regardless of them short of ammu etc...

may ALLAH give istiqamah to them

Yes, indeed it was a very sad news when I heard of his Shahadaat quite sometime ago.

Just to add some more info on this great Mujahid of the present times.

“Khattabs real name is Samir Saleh Abdullah Al-Suwailem, who was born in an Arar, a northern border city in Saudi Arabia in 1969.

Unlike other family members, he used to show more interest in Islamic periodicals and tapes. He was very much impressed by the history of the second Caliph Umar ibn Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) and therefore accepted the title Khattab. He joined a training course conducted by the Aramco. He planned to continue his studies in the United States, but he joined the Afghan Arabs fighting the Russians at the age of 17 in 1987. The young boy refused to come home even after his father promised to buy him a house.

He did not visit the Kingdom in the past 14 years except two times, the last one in 1993. He was gravely wounded four times and the most serious of them was when he set foot on a land mine. He was the lone survivor when his truck exploded, it was reported.

Samir got the idea of going to Chechnya after watching a news broadcast on the Afghan TV. The news broadcast showed several Chechen groups wearing headbands with "No God But Allah and Muhammad is His Messenger" written on them. They shouted Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Samir felt curious about the jihad going on in Chechnya and decided to go there. But he did not know how to go there and the map he bought did not show Chechnya. So he set out to Baku in Azerbaijan which is close to Chechnya.

Somehow or other, he managed to reach Chechnya where he first went about as a TV reporter meeting with people and inquiring about the common mans attitude toward the jihad. His proficiency in Arabic, Russian, English, and Pashtu helped him mix with all kinds of people. In his travels he also met with Shamil Basayev.

Khattabs actions were based on certain strong principles drawn from the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet. They can be summed up as follows: The objective of jihad should be the establishment of the religion of Allah, there is no negotiation with the enemy, the fight should not end until the enemys threat was totally removed, jihad does not depend on the life of a leader, leadership does not mean comfortable position, unity is the most important requisite for fighting against
Russia. He also stressed the need for treating civilians gently and not doing any harm to them.

Samir had been seeking martyrdom for the past 14 years. He failed to achieve it in Afghanistan, then he sought it in Tajikistan. He was again disappointed, so went to Chechnya where finally Allah granted it to him.”

Let those fight in the cause of God Who sell the life of this world for the hereafter. To him who fighteth in the cause of God, - whether he is slain or gets victory - Soon shall We give him a reward of great (value). 4:74

Atleast there are some people amongst us who have the guts to challenge the status quo. This is the only way we can break the shackles of our mental and physical slavery. InShaAllah, there will be more among us to follow his path.
