Injustice to my body?

For a few seconds of pleasure I do immeasurable harm to my body. I am talking about the morsels of potato chips, chocolate chip cookies, kalakand and countless other sweets that I put to my lips. They go straight to my hips but the moments pleasure is often worth it.

Lately I have been thinking about the fact that I was given this body to take good care of it. Not to abuse it and take advantage of it. If taken in moderation, sweets and other delectable sweets are fine. However, I have never been one for moderation when it comes to food. Food is my passion, whereas for some women its men, and others its something else. I wonder to myself how have I allowed it to get so out of hand.

I wonder if its a sin to mistreat my body in this manner. It is said that one should leave 1/3 for air, 1/3 for food, and 1/3 for drink, and that this is better for you. This is infact a hadith for those wondering where I got this from. So now, if infact I am responsible for the caretaking of my body, and I have not taken good care of it, what does this say about me? What does it say about my ability to get others, namely my future children, to take care of theirs? Am I doing injustice to myself on two counts? If unhealthy eating habits result in poor health in the future, which can lead to hospitalization or simply a shorter lease on life, does this mean that a person is responsible for cutting themselves off from their family earlier than what could have been had they taken good care of themselves?

I know I keep rambling. Just in the mood to write today. I will be quiet now. smile

ok today i couldnt be bothered to go and eat at the cafe so i drank one gallon of milk, ate 3 big donuts, 1 packet of MnMs .. 100 grams honey coated peanuts , 2 cookies and few mints… beat that

my body wants food i am doing justice

Munni,

Don't worry, no one is perfect and no one eats only healthy food, therefor eating unhealthy food does not mean you will lead a shorter life. If I am not mistaken, you want to change your habits. First of all you have to find out what is the reason of you eating so much junk food as you put it. I notice I start eating sweets things when I am under stress!! Yes thats right, when I don't have time to prepare meals at home I mostly buy food that is not healthy like a doner kabab, or chicken mayo sandwich, which tastes good but may not be good for you. Also mostly in holidays, I forget my resolutions and eat whatever I want to :-O

I can say that I allways have to decide if I can eat certain things or not. Though I think its not bad to have some sweets, even our bodies need that and I think the key is to feel content. Even if you are a bit chubby, if u feel that you are feeling good like that, so screw what the world says about slim models, its you that has to feel good in your body. Well how to get rid of eating sweets and junk food in huge amounts, you have to find somekind of a heathly subsitute hmm like fresh veggies, fruits with natural sweets ect.. Drink lots of water and do somekind of exercise everyday, I am sure this will cure away the need of unhealthy food...Give it a try, I know you can do it.

i can co-relate to that..food is my passion too..

what i do at home..i tell my mom that don't bring chips..coz if she does..i'll eat them all at once..also at work i do take some juices, vegetables and fruits..and whenever my collegues ask me if i want anything..i just simply say no i am fine..and if i ever go with them..i try not to buy chocolates and potato chips or icecreams from the nearby shop..or if i go out to eat..i prefer salads or veggie meals over fish..and if i do buy them..i buy the smallest quantity of the product..and now i don't eat that many chocolate cookies either..so i am improving in a way..once in a while i don't mind eating chocolates or chips etc. It takes time to get used to new habits..but you can always improve :)

Aah, do what you want with your body forget what the world says but if your not happy with yourself then you have a problem.

Such a tough call!

if you leave 1/3 for air, I'm inclined to think that it won't be too pleasent for ppl in your immediate vicinity.............j/k :D

coming back to your question: having snacks and eating junk food isn't bad at all for your health....UNLESS you eat enough healthy food to go along with it! so asl ong as you can eat vegetables every now and again there's no problem in going out on Saturday and eat those burgers and french fries :~)
