Re: injection given in upper arm instead of thigh...
it doesnt matter.. the only reason they put it on the thighs is cuz its nto an easy touch zone for the kid or parents when lifting etc.. arm.. easily pinch it whne lifting the kid up. pakistan may be oldschool bout this
and the vaccine.. wow... u would ahve to be a dr to know brands of vaccines?! i sure as hell dont.
Re: injection given in upper arm instead of thigh…
They dont. or they tell me to stick to the pakitani vaccination schedule, and not the uk one. but theres the meningitis missing in theirs, plus pakistanis one is different dependent on the cost. i dont care how much it costs.
Re: injection given in upper arm instead of thigh...
nadz you need vaccination for the country you live in not where you are from!!it in fact can vary from child to child depending on the health/allergies of yoru child, type of vaccine and vaccine available.
I have heard of Menactra for meningitis but it may very well have a different name in Pakistan!!
If you are in Pakistan, stick to that schedule and go to a good hospital/or pediatrician to make sure you get whats best for your child.
Re: injection given in upper arm instead of thigh...
Can you not travel to islamabad if you want a bigger hospital? Is that possible?
If you are in pakistan, follow the pakistani schedule - if you want to include meningitis you can but discuss it with a good doctor. Its not safe to ask us on here.
Re: injection given in upper arm instead of thigh...
my vhilds 4th month immunisation was given in the upper arm....is this ok...in the uk they do on the thighs, im sure. does it make a difference.
also anyone know the name of a reputable meningitis vaccine....for baby of 4months....i bought mine that have been exported.
my daughter got meningitis vaccine but I don't know the brand neither I checked I just trusted the nurses and pharmacy of Agha Khan Community Health Center. Anyway meningitis vaccine is very very common in Pakistan as you can not go for Hajj or Omra without getting one. Just go to a good hospital and ask the doctor and try to trust him.
With regards to arm or thigh my daughter have got on both places , a qualified nurse knows where to inject.
The immunization schedule on baby center is 99% followed in Pakistan atleast this is what my observation is so plz check it.
Re: injection given in upper arm instead of thigh…
are you following the schedule of a govt hospital ? if yes, they dont have it included in the EPI
if a private hospital, they will give you a chart to follow..lutaira hospital hoga tau 10000 types ki vaccines hongi :halo: and koi imaandaar wala hoga tau zyada nai hongi. My kids got theirs from govt hospital and they told to get chicken pox at yr1,2,3,4,5 ; MMR at 18 months ; HIB (meningitis) at 2,4,6months and typhoid yearly privately (I buy them from good pharmacies and inject them myself). other fancy vaccines night not be available or potent because it is hard to maintain the cold-chain of them here (you wont want to know kahan pe banti hain aur hum tak kahan kahan se ho kay pahunchti hain :bummer: )
Re: injection given in upper arm instead of thigh…
Thats the thing, im not sure what temp they keep the vaccine, anyway went to a good pharmacy…am following both uk and pak shcedule, as we are going bk to uk in 2 3 years, plus shes already on the uk shcedule, she has the doses for 2nd and 3rd month, its the 4th month that completes the dosages, so thats why i wanted the uk one.
the pakistan immunisation has one missing in the usual Dtap vaccine, its DTP, In the uk its DTAP…etc…
dont wrry am not gna follow you guys here blindly, just wanted to know abit mor info from people who live her already.
and can i ask- when someone says yaha pe bi bachay hain, sub yeh hi laga the, as my MIL said, i didnt have an asnwer. i know ppl here kids here have the vaccinations here, so she was asking why my kids are so special they need specially imported vaccines…
Re: injection given in upper arm instead of thigh...
silence. best answer.
cuz honstly.. it does not make sense. i spent a lot of my time in arabia in my child's first yr.. and i have vaccines from both denmark and arabia.. they just check the booklet and see whats next. its not rocket science.. kasam se.
Re: injection given in upper arm instead of thigh…
say her a ‘hmmm’ with a look of ‘I dont care’ on your face and do whatever you feel best for your kid ! :halo: and tell her Pakistan may rural areas 30% bachoan ko vaccine lagtee he nai..abb hum unko bhi follow karna shuru kar dayn ?
