Ingredient of the week - Turmeric

Ladies … and Germs :@:
It amazes me how each and everyone of us can brilliantly use the same ingredient in a 1000 different ways … … so I thought of exploring it further.

Each week we will have a certain spice/herb/fruit/vege …please tell us how you use the ingredient of the week in day to day life.

Have a good day :lifey:

^hehe..:smack:

The haldi-doodh mixture is also taken after child delivery as it is supposed to heal internal wounds, don’t know if it’s a myth or fact though.

-Turmeric with honey is considered to be good to cure flu and cough.

  • It’s rubbed on babies’ skin to get rid of excess hair. Don’t know the exact method, just heard about it.

Re: Ingredient of the week - Turmeric

I dunno if anyone has ever tried it … but Turmeric and zeera rice , taste fabulous with fried fish or alu ki sabzi etc …

Just boil rice , final few minutes before its done, add half teaspoon turmeric and zeera , drain rice … its that simple :hmmm:

Re: Ingredient of the week - Turmeric

This reminds me of haldi wali roti CB.. I've had it at someone's place, never tried making myself though. It was basically turmeric added to flour, plus cumin, coriander seeds, salt and chilli and then kneaded into a dough..then just rotis made as usual.

Re: Ingredient of the week - Turmeric

Masi I know that roti , my naani used to make it .. and made us eat it when ever we had any illness … basically turmeric adds very nice flavour when used along with cumin seeds … and cooked … :yummy:
