Dear All,

It amazes me how each and everyone of us can brilliantly use the same ingredient in a 1000 different ways … … so I thought of exploring it further.

Each week we will have a certain spice/herb/fruit/vege …please tell us how and why you use the ingredient of the week in day to day life.

Besides the normal saalan, chutneys, cooking, salads, etc. I slice one up, sprinkle salt on it and eat it raw..... yummmmmy

The best tomatoes in Pakistan are grown in Karachi’s green acres of Malir! But they are available only for two months - December & January.!

oh man im going to put a tamatar in anything. be it raita, dahi phulkian, channa chaat, bhindi, burger, ofcourse salans or by itself. just luvs it

Im not a big fan of tomatoes...dont eat them usually unless there is nothing else to eat.

But I do love them diced in my raita...it isnt the same without tomatoes.

Oh and my omelet...has to have tomatoes in it.

No tomatoes....no salsa!!! They are very important!!

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE tomatoes!!! :tomato:

A salad isn’t a salad without tomato

A sandwich/burger is incomplete without a juicy tomato

I also love tomatoes on pizza, in chaat, on a bagel, in pasta, in spreads

I also LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE tomato sauce!!!

I crave something with tomato sauce and cheese every month (pasta, pizza, etc)!

And I LOOOOOOOOVE using tomato paste sometimes in making curries cuz it adds brighter color and a richer flavor. Mmmmmm!

Can’t remember correctly but I think Dr. Oz said that it’s healthy to get about 10 TBS of tomato sauce weekly (not sure though). Either way, they’re good for you!

Red, plump firm tomatoes in vegetable markets make my day(yea that’s how sad I am:vivo:) .. love tomatoes on their own the best.

I read somewhere that you should always remove tomatoes skin as it doesn’t get digested and may lead to kidney stone… no idea if it’s true or just a made-up research but i still remove the skin to be on safer side..

I have never been able to make my mind if i like them or not :hmmm: … I can definitely not have them raw … and in the salan , I love its aroma and taste , but not unless its been turned into a fine paste :eek: .. wierd much?
