Dear All,
It amazes me how each and everyone of us can brilliantly use the same ingredient in a 1000 different ways … … so I thought of exploring it further.
Each week we will have a certain spice/herb/fruit/vege …please tell us how and why you use the ingredient of the week in day to day life.
Just eat mangoes and throw the chilkaas

I love making Mango chutney ..
and mango dessert , just blend some freshly cut mangoes into a fine paste , mix in a bit of yoghurt and some fresh cream ,some sugar … throw in some chunks of mango as well … and put it in the chiller

someone post a recipe for mango salsa cuz i got a mango sitting in my fridge and it’s buddy was very pheeka, so i just wanna do something else to this one.
Yeah not a bad idea I love mango salsa here I get it from Costco but I have mangoes sitting in my pantry too.

Khumar this is the recipe that I follow to make Mango salsa occasionally :
1 red pepper, roasted,peeled and diced
1 mango, peeled and diced
1 small orange,peeled and diced
1/4 cup green onions, chopped
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
1 tsp jalepeno pepper,chopped
1 tbsp olive oil
1 lime, juiced
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
In a small bowl, add the mango, red pepper, oranges, onions, cilantro, jalapeno peppers, olive oil, lime juice, salt and pepper. Mix and serve.

Mango custard
Make custard as per the instructions on your packet (this doesn’t really work with custard made from scratch)
Small tin of mango pulp
Double cream
-Make your custard and allow to cool slightly
-Add mango pulp to taste
-Add some double cream to taste
-Serve with fresh mango slices

Mango Salsa
Finely dice red/green pepper, mango and red onion.
Add lemon juice, black pepper, chaat masala and a bit of tamarind accordingl to taste preference.

In your face CBs! hehe It’s cos you say ‘besan’ and not ‘vesan’ as it should be.
If you are only using 1 pepper get a green one cos the colours will look better with the mango and red onion.

Mango with paratha is a combo , i have seen people have in pakistan during the mango season … though i never had the heart to try it

mango with roti. mango with paratha. such a desi combo. my parents do it…i’m not so inclined towards it

Mango kebabs on the bbq. hmmm not sure what other fruit you would use.
Perhaps pineapple, melon?

Here in the UK , they have a thing called Mango Lassi … I dont like it one bit , but people in desi restaurants seem to be having the time of their life with mango lassi drinks :no:

Pineapple on the BBQ is nice. Dunno about mango…worth a shot though innit.
