I hail from sauga and I've been to London only a few times. It is very different from Sauga in a zillion ways. Primarily it's a white town, not too many desis. Obviously, b/c it's less populated, there are not many job opportunities available. Not sure abt desi/halal stores and stuff. It's also a few hours drive away from toronto..
I agree with the above poster to some extent, It is different from sauga for sure. There are not even half as many desi's in London but there is a large arab population in london and the desi population also seems to be growing. There are a few indian spice and grocery stores and a few halal meets as well. I think it is a nice city to move into as a new immigrant since its not too big but job oppurtunities are not very high.
It is a nice city. Its mostly white, around 90% but there is a large arab population. People are friendly and I prefer this to Mississauga which is so full of desis that you cant even breathe.
The city can get pretty boring during summers when the University is out.
Avoid East London as its the crappiest part of the city. The Western side is the best.
Ok - M2k
but I think the family coming is too desi minded since they are coming from ME -
I don't think 90% gora party will give them breathing room, rather they might feel lost..
good insight, I appreciate it..
However, you did not answer about jobs for new comers and high schoolers...?
I did go to london 2 weeks ago and my wife and I also gathered almost the same as your comments but we needed someone who lives there to negate or affirm what we saw in 1 day.
