Info on IIEE

I have applied to NED but I fear that the my chances are very slim as there are only 13 seats for A level students.
I have decided to apply to the Institute of Industrial Electronics Engineering, Karachi. What do you think about the this degree programme and about the reputation of IIEE in the job market?

a very well respected program and it is not offered at ned ... admission is competetive and enrollment is limited (somewhere around 50-60 seats if i remember correctly). one of my friends got accepted there along with electronics engg at NED . he attended the classes for a week or so and then enrolled at NED.

Why are there limited seats for Alevels? Thats not the way it works in GIKI and NUST? They ask for the equivalent FSc and Matric certificates from alevel students, but thats pretty much it. I didnt expect such a pathetic policy by a good school like NED.

these institutions are funded by the government and are required to favour the local system

Some of the NED policies are downright ridiculous. For example, in case of a tie in the merit position for the 13 A level seats, the date of birth will be considered and OLDER applicants will be considered higher in merit!! Holy crap! I did my A levels from the UAE and they finish the O and A levels in 10 +2 years while in PAk its 11+2, so that slims my chances. Its like the registrarwas asked just before the prospectus was published about tie in merit positions at the 11th hour and he was like: “umm..err…well..gee…ya! Take the older ones!!”

They dont consider O levels and any extra documents like teacher reccomendations or extracurricular record at school!

Another thing, in the prospectus it says that A grade is equated to 85%, B to 75% and so on. But in order to obtain the equivalence certificate, you need to pay Rs 1000 and get the equivalence transcript that should be attached. Hell why all that, when I can attach my A level certificate or grade sheet cuz anyone can make out the percentage from the break up they use!!
