I follow some Baloch nationalist dudes on Twitter, in recent days I am getting the vibes that very severe differences have started propping up between the militant groups lead by hyrbyar and Allah nazar. Both groups allege each other of serving ‘Punjab’s’ interests. Has Pakistan finally made a breakthrough in balochistan as well?
Re: Infighting between Baloch militant groups
The whole Baloch uprising seems to be dying out... We see less and less of it in the news. Very few if any significant attacks in recent days. Perhaps their running out of steam.
The infighting may be a sign of frustration.
Hope Pakistan takes the opportunity to improve the living standards for these people instead of paying lip service or gloating. Unity is what makes a nation. Unless you bring the Baloch along, it will only be a nation in name.
Re: Infighting between Baloch militant groups
Didn't the militants lay down arms in eighties when Zia came to power?
I think the biggest draw should be that balochistan is developed and baloch are developed as well. I find it hard to believe that balochistan can't be made peaceful considering the low population unlike rural sindh or southern punjab. The sardars / separatists know it as well that a developed gawadar and mineral projects would sap their recruiting pool and migration from rest of Pakistan alone to gawadar could easily sap militant strength, hence they don't want that to happen since increased economic activity would allow for more money to security forces to better challenge militants.
