Infatuation with Princess Diana

Today I noticed the following headline on one of the news websites:

“Princess Diana’s mother last night blasted Mel C for comparing Posh Spice to her daughter. Francess Shand Kydd was infuriated by Sporty Spice’s comments that the plight of Victoria Beckham was similar to that suffered by the tragic princess.”

First off…was the plight or the princess “tragic”? :wink:

Next…will there ever be a time that people will stop aspiring to match Diana? Should such comparisons be encouraged or discouraged?

Should martyrs be encouraged or discouraged?

I think people are making too much out of it. She did a lot of good things in general, but lets just let it be. Her life was not any more tragic than many average joe citizens.

Agreed. I personally think Diana was no where close to someone like..say Jackie Kennedy
or Mother Teresa..even Elizabeth Taylor.

The Poms just need someone to make a hero out of...and Diana just fits the bill.

Its not just the poms who made a hero out of her, but quite a few countries...including pakistan.

There are others that have done so much more than her, without having a Royal title and its perks. A simple example would be Edhi.
