I have read about babies as young as 6 months travelling to Pakistan from the US.
Is this safe?
What is the minimum a child should be for airline travel?

I think the minimum is like a few weeks old. It’s the late-term pregnancies that airlines usually have a problem with. Plus i think it’s much safer and easier to travel with young babies cos all they need is breastmilk or formula =/ No worries about bad food or anything. If travelling in the summer…mosquitos and bugs etc would be something to worry about but other than that i think itd be fine.
Re: Infant Travelling Overseas…is it safe?
Travel is safe with these caveats:
If your kid doesn’t use a pacifier, make sure you keep one with you anyway on the plane. During cabin pressure changes, let the baby use the pacifier to equalize ears.
Remember, they constantly recycle air on the plane, so all the sick peoples’ germs are recycling through the cabin, at that age, the baby’s immune system is still developing so chances of catching a cold or even the flu are significantly higher.

^ Good to know…
I want to go to Pakistan after delivery but only if its perfectly safe. I thought we should wait at least 6 months?
A few weeks is too young for the reasons you mentioned aahmed.
Re: Infant Travelling Overseas…is it safe?
Agree with aahmed.
Personal experience:
My sister went to Pakistan after a week on 2 of her deliveries and didn’t face any issues. We made sure with the Pediatrician before we finalize the plans.
Re: Infant Travelling Overseas…is it safe?
I would wait atleast 6 months… Ppl in Pakistan love feeding solids to young infants especially egg..lol
We waited till Yousuf was over an year. He was able to enjoy all the yummy food his dadi made for him. Alhamdulilah.
Re: Infant Travelling Overseas…is it safe?
a baby can travel as soon as he has infant vaccinations [18 months]. it’ll be risk free in that case. that’s what i think, it may not be correct though because i am not a parent yet.
Re: Infant Travelling Overseas…is it safe?
first kid.. 3 months!! best time ever!!! he slept through most of the flight.. I nursed him during take off and landing with no issues. He mostly stayed with my mom or mom in law when and if we went out.. he was on formula so I was able to leave him home ot go see people/shop etc. we stayed there 3 weeks and alhamdulillah everything went fine.
second kid.. she will go two weeks after she turns 6 months old.. I waited this long only because it was summer in Pakistan and didnt want to overheat the kids.. once we made it to 5 months her doc recommended MMR for travel so we just planned the trip after 6 months. We will be spending almost a week in Turkey before going to Pakistan so I am hoping and praying for the best inshaAllah ![]()
Infant Travelling Overseas…is it safe?
After giving birth in the US, My sister traveled back to Pakistan with my niece when she was 2 months old. They also extensively traveled throughout Europe and Asia that whole first year and never had any issues, your pediatrician will know best, follow their advice.
I also think 2 month is a good time to travel as the babies get their vaccination then. Most doctors would tell you to be careful taking babies out before their vaccinations. Their immunity isn’t fully developed.
Re: Infant Travelling Overseas…is it safe?
I think it’s easier if ur still BFeeding them as u don’t need to worry about cleaning n sterilising bottles or about food. I would say 4-5 months is ideal as once the child is older and starts crawling theres no stopping them.
Re: Infant Travelling Overseas…is it safe?
Niiiice…so I am thinking as soon as immunizations are done! Latest by next Eid-ul-Adha!
Re: Infant Travelling Overseas…is it safe?
18 months??? They get 1st set at 2months…
Re: Infant Travelling Overseas…is it safe?
no no…what i meant was when they are done with first phase of immunizations…up to age 18 months, the immunizations are more frequent. right? after 18 months, the gap between immunizations are much longer as i understand.
