Infant Stroller Information

Hi,

Does anyone know when travelling from UK to Pakistan via PIA, if you are able to take stroller inside aeroplane and when arriving in Pakistan if you are able to use it straight away when landing rather then picking it up from the baggage reclaim.

Kind regards,

Re: Infant Stroller Information

You leave it at the gate and then don't get it till baggage reclaim. That's why I never travel on my own as the queues to get on the plane are quite long and then when you arrive it's the same when going through immigration. I don't know why they don't call for people with young kids to board first like a lot of airlines here. I found the queues at Islamabad worse than lahore and its very hard after a long flight.

How old is your child? Is anyone travelling with you? I would recommend a sling if your child is less than a year old.

Re: Infant Stroller Information

Thanks for your reply.

We are travelling as a family, but I will return back and my partner will have to travel back alone with the baby. Infant is one year old.

Re: Infant Stroller Information

When landing in Pakistan, chances are getting strollers in baggage claim area. However, when departing from Pakistan you can take ur stroller upto cabbin where it is taken by ground staff. A baggage tag is already on stroller so u get it in baggage claim again at ur destination. Many international airports have complimentary strollers or trollers where kids can sit.

Re: Infant Stroller Information

When I travelled with my nine month old , I was on my own. And believe me, the sling was the only thing that saved me! I was travelling from UK to Lahore via Dubai. They took the pram as soon as I checked in at the final gate in the UK and then in Dubai , I couldnt get my pram. At the airport I could use the airport provided pram. but outside I didnt have any. Then when I landed at Lahore airport. I tried to ask staff again and again if I could get the pram but they refused and insisted I would get it at the baggage claim not before. That led to nearly two hours of me carrying my baby in the sling + an hour of wait and carrying my luggage at the baggage claim.

On my return the same happened, they booked the pram to the UK, even though I requested them to book it to Dubai and then I will hand it to the people at the gates to be booked to the UK. But they said they couldnt do it and so it was totally useless carrying a pram all through my trip :(

Re: Infant Stroller Information

Thanks for sharing your replies and sharing your experience.

I was hoping to get the stroller inside the airplane but it seems like they don't allow it. I am more concerned on the way back for my partner as there is long walk to immigration desk at heathrow airport, I am assuming Heathrow airport dont provide buggy assistance like Dubai airport does.

Kind regards,

Re: Infant Stroller Information

No there are no buggies at heathrow. But there is a concierge service or porter service available. Go to skycaps.com. Or else google heathrow assistance with children. I wouldn't travel alone not only because I would have to carry the child from the plane through to immigration but also the baggage issue, getting baggage and putting it n trolley, what do u do with child? I suppose u couldn't do this without a sling.

Re: Infant Stroller Information

Thanks a lot for valuable advice..

Can someone please advise me if they consider the weight of the stroller in your weight allowance?

Re: Infant Stroller Information

The stroller is not weighed. Your baby has a 10kg luggage allowance and can take a pushchair. As well as your 40kg allowance.
