Renowned freelance columnist Mr. Ardeshir Cowasjee who since is not a Muslim hence in his columns he never deliberately and manafically speaks lies recently exposed a plot allotment scandal. The industrial plots were being allotted by Site Limited Karachi. The computer balloting was so arranged that groups of applications stand successful. On this column perforce an enquiry had to be ordered who found all this fraud. In his next column on 8.4.2004 in DAWN he pointed out a new potential scandal. Referring to old bad habits of 1990s and Musharraf’s sympathies with MQM he stated that Federal Minisister for Communication Babar Ghauri (MQM) has arranged 405 industrial plots 1000 square yards each at Port Qasim for allotment to Overseas Pakistanis with a down payment of $75/- per plot and till then having arrived 620 applications. On writing this column he tells how Sindh Minister of Industries Adil Siddiqui (MQM( has sent a message to the him (columnist) that in case he did not stop writing such columns his security would be removed, his party if all powerful and they would take action again columnist. Message was also sent to DAWN for stopping columns of this gentleman. Mr. Ardeshir has put all this in writing to the Governor of Sindh. Most of the schemes are made in the name of Pakistanis workers abroad. But these are made so to give benefit to others. This Port Qassim industrial plots scheme is one of it. I have today checked with Pakistan High Commission. No one knows about it. I phoned my brother in UAE. The Consulate General there also is not aware about this scheme. I phoned Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Karachi Office they are not aware. The only place left is that I may contact MQM’s international secretariat in UK where sits Pir Altaf Hussain. Who are these 620 very lucky Pakistani workers who have till 8/8/2004 applied and more are to apply. From where they got information and forms? Should we not believe these are person who within nigh got status of Overseas Pakistanis as leaders within night got B.A Degrees eg Noorjehan Panazie.
