Indoor Plants

Its been quite gray lately and my indoor plants arent getting any sunlight from the windows so some of them are looking drab. Has any one tried using sun lamps for their indoor plants?

Re: Indoor Plants

it helps for sure.

what plants are we talking about here? what is your watering regime?

Re: Indoor Plants

Well, I have some indoor plants for some time, and it seemed to me that they never grew. They were'nt dead but they were the same size for a long time. The reason I think was they werent getting enough sunlight, as the building next to ours is too close. But luckily I have a balcony, where I get little sunlight for a short period during the day. All I have started to do is putting the plants outside and after sunlight vanishes, putting those back in. And I am seeing new leaves growing out now.

But yes, I was also thinking about getting a lamp for that purpose. But nothing is better than the natural sunlight.

Re: Indoor Plants

Sadaf, I dont know if yours is a good strategy, considering where you live. Indoor plants may burn out in the heat. Leave them inside, next to the balcony but not outside in direct sunlight.

Re: Indoor Plants

Ashtray, well its quite pleasent here these days. So I think its fine for the plants to get some fresh air and sunlight. Plus, its really a small period of time, when the plants get to see the sunlight. Its dark inside, as all our windows are tinted. And I dont use strong lights at home.

When the weather turns hot I will have to get the lamp for them.

Re: Indoor Plants

the reason they are dying inside could be from watering them quite often. Even during pleasent weather, indoor plants cannot stand direct sunlight, and even if they do right now, they will get used to of it and require more light later on.

Thanks,
But, when I bought them from the nursery, they were outside under the shade.

Re: Indoor Plants

:hehe: now she tells us, no wonder they are dying inside Sadaf.

Re: Indoor Plants

what’s the use of Indoor plants then, if they die indoors? :hoonh:
