Indoor or Outdoor Wedding Venue?

Salam ppl!

I am confused between having an indoor vs outdoor venue for my wedding. I love the variety an outdoor venue offers in terms of natural landscaping, maybe live cooking, free movement of guests, etc. Perhaps they are more “friendly” than indoor venues. I somehow feel that indoors are great with lighting, and perhaps better-suited to photography.

The thing is the wedding would take place around late evening, which means my photographer can’t make use of the beautiful twilight…I am not sure how well-lit the venue is going to be n if “bad lighting” would come in the way of photography?!

What have been your past experiences with outdoor/indoor venues? Any advice as to what should be kept in mind before deciding on indoor/outdoor, considering weather & food don’t have a bearing on our decision (It will be pleasant to hold the wedding outside and food options are similar for both)?

Thanks!

Re: Indoor or Outdoor Wedding Venue?

most important is what u want if u like outdoor go for it.
lighting is not a problem now a days.
u can set all the color combo according to ur choice.

n personally i also like outdoor catering if caterer can do everything according to ur choice.

There's a book called " The Complete Outdoor Wedding Planner" by Sharon Naylor. Can be bought on Amazon and Ebay. It might be helpful.

Good luck!

Re: Indoor or Outdoor Wedding Venue?

i had an outdoor wedding and it was lovely and fun! its not that complicated to plan one vs. an indoor wedding but there are some things you need to consider.
the weather, above all else. what if it rains? does the tent have side walls that can come down? what about mosquitoes? will you have to arrange mosquito-lamps and all that? what about if its too hot? will you be bringing in fans?

let guests know its outdoors- some places, nights are cooler, so they should bring shawls or light sweaters perhaps, and for ladies, if its on grass, stilletos are a no-no, cos they’ll just sink into the lawn.

Re: Indoor or Outdoor Wedding Venue?

i had mine in a structured tent so it was SEMI outdoorsish but really it was still enclosed, elevated to protect from rain, heater and a/c etc etc so it wa slike a tent/hall but outside if u know what i mean.

Re: Indoor or Outdoor Wedding Venue?

Yes SGC...i agree with your concern about the weather. I live in the Emirates n in this part of the world it hardly rains, except around late Dec-Jan..so i think we're pretty much safe on tht:). But if it does, there's nothing to save us!! The venue we've seen doesn't have a covered area, not even some part of it.

I was so thinking about the same thing!! i know few of my relatives are planning to wear ghararas n all, with the grass i don't think they would forgive me if their gharars got stained by the grass!! Ooops, didn't think abt the stilletos!! My womenfolk would never forgive me in such a case!!

PF- i know what u mean by a structured tent. Yours was beautifully done, MA!

Thanks!! you're so sweet

Re: Indoor or Outdoor Wedding Venue?

indoor, outdoor you will have no control of the envoirment/ weather. It may be to windy, causing your hair to mess up, or to sunny causing for you to sweat and constantly touch up your make up. It's always best to have your wedding venue in a controlled envoirment.

Re: Indoor or Outdoor Wedding Venue?

I think it depends where you are going to be. If it's going to be in Pakistan then I'd advise you to do it indoors. It's not so much the weather that's a problem but the power...one word - generators....
If it's somewhere else, then you may try outdoors but always keep a backup plan (like a hotel with a lawn and an inside hall, or a tent with waterproof fabric and sealable doors/windows).

Re: Indoor or Outdoor Wedding Venue?

this wsas my tent so it wa svery indoorsy but also had some element of outdoor to it since it was overlooking a garden

these are shots of my tent- it was closed off on one side as there was a garden maze on the other side of that tent wall.
the other three sides were open and looked onto an amazing fountain and more greenery.
as you can tell, its very different from PF’s which was super glam, so you can get an idea of two completely different ways to have an outdoor wedding.
