indoor climbing pitch in lahore

Salam, Does anyone know of any indoor climbing pitch in lahore. If anyone has a prospective wall that is about 7-10 meter in height and will not be subject to any objections to nearby living creatures namely humans, is ready to put heads together to think about developing one, and is desperate enough to climb, please write back.

regards

Mazeno, I don't think there is an indoor climbing gym in Lahore u. You'ld be better off taking a trip towards Northern Pakistan. There are a lot of places for Bouldering, Free-hand climbing, Big-wall with over thriry pitches. The places around Hunza are just like heaven; a ragged zone of Granite with towers and walls, like fangs, as high as over 6,000 ft from base. Swat is pretty cool too..for mountain biking, and camping.

Thanx Abdullah, i have been to northern area and have had the experience of climbing in passu. Due to my engagements over here, it is not possible for me to go there so often, that is why i was looking for a climbing pitch here, so that one can stay in shape.

I am ready to put heads together with someone in developing a pitch provided that we get some place that it is possible.

Please tell me about yourself, do you have any climbing experience etc.

thanx again, regards

I have done a lot of mountaineering in BC, and Pakistan. However, my last trip to Northern Pakistan was at least five years ago..haven't been back since. Constructing a makeshift pitch would be a neat idea, however it takes considerable amount of resources and logistics. All the necassary components for indoor rock gyms are widely available here in Canada, and on the web. There are numerous rock gyms here in Vancouver, giving you wide array of practice scenarios such as technical over-hangs and stuff. It's neat to know that you are into climbing.

Abdullah

Well, i have heard a lot about the Algonquin region of Canada. Please tell me about the ranges there, have you attempted any peaks over there, what is the technical grading like.

I have had a bit of iceclimbing experience as well as glacier travel and rescue techniques. This february i planned an expedition to Bourgey peak, next to bourgey pass, (en route from skardu to deosai plains via the bourgay nala), but because of lack of time, resources and fitness, had to abandon midway.

I need to ask you in the light of your mountaineering experience, can you please explain what is "Alpine style climbing" I have read that Reinold Meissner tried it over the karakoram and himalaya peaks. I never could find out what it means and how it differs from the normal style of climbing.
